Happy 12th Birthday, Natalie Morris!
Let’s begin with her birthday news; since we don’t want to think about missing Cassie and Michael tonight as they’re about to make the push through to the end of their college adventures between now and May.
We don’t write about Naomi’s teacher connections through her father, but we’re thinking about that connection as we write this part of our report because Natalie’s Mom is Naomi’s Spanish teacher this year; and will be ours starting next year. That made this party feel a bit different; though Natalie’s first co-ed party was a big deal for her too. While we would love to report a best-ever party for Natalie, that wouldn’t be the truth. Some of the guys took their fun to a place that Natalie didn’t want it to go; add in one guy that proved he’s clueless; and our friend was in tears a few times last night. There were some good moments too, but not enough to make up for the problems; and Ehlana and Naomi did what they could to help Natalie – along with her best friends while Aiden and I were not successful in our attempts to get the ‘problem’ guys to play nice.
We really don’t want to go into the details. Maybe we should, but it will have to be enough to report that we do have bad days now and then. The party problems had everything to do with us feeling a bit guilty about having a really good end to our night at Aiden’s house with a late movie and co-ed sofa sleepover. Natalie doesn’t really hate Ehlana and Naomi for having boyfriends that don’t mess up on a regular basis; and she has the right to have a bad opinion of all boys our age right now.
Moving along, after our sleepover, we started the day with Tai Chi that needed to be indoors thanks to the cold; we had a hot breakfast with Aiden’s parents, sister, and Leah; and then our church and Sunday school adventures were fun and happy – especially the time we got to spend with Cassie and Michael. We got to have lunch with them too, but did that at the Inn so that they could also spend time with his family; and then that was our last blast of fun with them before they loaded up their car and headed for their townhouse. They got back their early and safely; and the rest of our day has been quiet by comparison. Mom had us help her out with some chores after our favorite collegians – and Mandy – were gone; we visited the lab or archives for a couple of hours; and then we’ve had an early evening that included an easy-dinner, a Magi lesson, and bath or Jacuzzi time. Now we’re winding down and ready to catch up on our sleep, so we’ll skip any world news commentary, wrap this up; and call it a night!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
