Ethan, Ehlana, Naomi, and Aiden:
Happy 22nd Birthday, Marc Johnson!
Thanks to the storm that sort-of-wasn’t; Cassie and Michael didn’t help their friend with celebrating his special day, but don’t take that the wrong way; since the weather has been nasty today. We didn’t get as much snow as forecast, but that was because it got cold-enough to cut back on the snow volumes. We did get two or three inches, and that was a problem because of high winds. The fast-freeze was an issue too; so the right call was made to close the school and not run the buses. By this morning, the wind chill was into the negative twenties; we’ll at least touch into the minus-thirties tonight; and the winds will be strong-enough to blow the snow around for most of the next couple of days.
We’ll wait and see whether the cold and wind will cause travel problems for our collective families, but the Johnson clan Christmas plans are still a go, and with many of the schools closed today and tomorrow anyway; heading out early will be an option for at least some of those travelers. That, by the way, includes the Everetts; and they plan on heading out for Uncle Blaine and Aunt Alison’s place tomorrow morning. We’ll have more on that over the next couple of updates.
As for our own news of the day, after our awesome co-ed sofa sleepover and those Christmas movies; our day so far has been really good. We stayed in and warm while the snow fell; had lots of help once clearing the driveways and sidewalks was both possible and not a total waste of time; and we had a half-dozen driveways taken care of by mid-afternoon. By then, the deep cold had us ready to stay inside for the rest of the day – so we did. After warming up with hot drinks and warm snacks; we had a band practice to get ready for the church services on the weekend; we helped with making dinner for eight; and then we enjoyed that meal before also taking care of the clean-up.
Cassie and Michael are with Jake and Stephanie tonight, and since there wasn’t a game night; they only babysat until Jake and Stephanie got back from the Inn; and they’re all having fun tonight ahead of the busy holiday weekend rush that should be more than it might have been if we’d gotten more snow. That’ll be good for all of the stores in town; and might even mean a few more sales of our Christmas album before that’ll probably be zero sales at least until next Christmas.
Now we’re winding down with more Christmas movies – and co-ed cuddle time with Naomi and Aiden; and they’re staying for another sleepover because they can – and because Naomi’s parents get Zack tonight and the girls didn’t want to be there instead. That works for all of us, and that’s all we have for tonight; so here are our Christmas song picks for you to enjoy while we continue our ‘real life’ fun!
