Ethan, Ehlana, Naomi, and Aiden:
Let’s get right to our double update!
Our Mother’s Day began with a sunny and warm-ish Tai Chi workout by the river; Dad and I cooked breakfast for four and took care of the clean-up; and the breakfast highlights included Mom’s gifts and a long video chat with Cassie and Michael. They would have liked to be here, but have final exams this week; so that wasn’t an option. Our Moms don’t get a special short service from the Pastors, but there were flowers for every mother; special kid and teen music; and a themed message from Pastor John. We had fun at Sunday school too; Dad hosted a barbeque lunch at our house; and then our afternoon adventures ended up being a family-and-friends’ bike ride out to Quarry Lake – or a trip there for the people that didn’t want to attempt the ride too.
The weather today was so awesome that the round trip bike ride was as much fun as the short play time we had at Quarry Lake. While on that ride, we also got approval for some camping last night – at several back yards instead of leaving one set of parents in charge of the entire gang. That’s why we were motivated to get home in time to set up our tent before getting cleaned up for the Mother’s Day buffet at the Inn – the late one. That meal was the culinary entertainment highlight of our day, and while we were at a kinds’ table; we were also collectively kept close to our own Moms so that we could share the fun with them. Finally, our Mother’s day fun wrapped up with an hour-or-so-long campfire before parents headed into their own homes and the camping kids moved into their tents after getting ready for bed. The co-ed camping was definitely a highlight of our day; our parents probably enjoyed the semi-kid-free night; and we should likely just leave all details unwritten – if not for the same reasons for the respective groups.
For the news from today; let’s start with the special day announcements and news!
Happy 2nd Birthday, Gregory Denninger!
Congratulations, Erin and Kyle Landry – you’re pregnant!
The best baby news joke we heard so far for Kyle and Erin is that Kyle bribed the doctors to delay the news until the day after Mother’s Day, but that wasn’t really fair – if funny; since we also know that Kyle had gifts for Erin yesterday; and more of them today so that worked out very well for her! ;^)
We didn’t have any involvement in Gregory’s special day beyond the usual family gift, but did hear from Aunt Leanne that he’s having a happy day with lots of special fun.
Our day started out great with extra exercise buddies for Tai Chi by the river. It was still in the seventies this morning; and the weather just kept getting better – topping out in the nineties for the first time this year! That’s why our academic adventures included a lot of outdoor time; we had fun with our classmates and friends all day; and then we kept the fun going with some baseball fun - Brianna and Faith’s first practice of the season after getting rained out last Monday. We went home first; grabbed our bikes; and added in some biking and park play time with our friends after catching about half of that practice. Mom and Dad hosted a barbeque dinner for some of our family to help out Brianna’s coaches; and we – the tweens – took care of the clean-up before we were set free to go for an evening canoe ride. We only headed upriver for a half-hour or so; the round-trip took about an hour; and then we took turns grabbing showers or Jacuzzi time before meeting up on the benches by the river for a long bedtime chat while we enjoyed the still-hot evening. We’re now in our tent and getting ready to cuddle and nap for the rest of the night with our favorite co-ed cuddle buddies; so that’s just about all we have for this report.
Cassie, Michael, and their friends have survived their first day of final exams, but that isn’t news for us; and we’re mostly just looking forward to having them home again for a while between the spring and summer sessions. For now, we are managing to keep ourselves happy and entertained; and we’ll be able to keep doing that a lot if we can continue with regular co-ed camping nights between now and sometime this fall! ;^)
We’ll let you know how that goes for us over the next few months, but we really do need to get some sleep soon; so we’re out of here and off to co-ed dreamland!
Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan Proctor and gang – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
