Happy 26th Birthday, May (Sung Mei)!
We joined in on a breakfast vid-chat with May and Lee – and Cassie, Michael, Rowen, and Tim. We didn’t have much time to actually talk with her, but we were in on the gifts that had been sent to her; and enjoyed the story time from Georgia. We had fun with that chat, breakfast, and the Tai Chi by the river that preceded the food break; and then our school day was pretty good too – though not at all newsworthy. Ethan and I are hosting a co-ed teen night; so this after-school update is being multi-tasked with getting ready for our friends to arrive. They’ll be here soon and we will be busy for the rest of the day; and won’t be doing any bedtime computing. The rest of our news for today can wait for our next update; so let’s wrap this up.
We don’t want to offer a major world news update, but will mention two stories that caught our attention. The first is another display of power from Russia – a second demonstration of their new hypersonic missile that can hit up to twelve targets that also cannot be intercepted by any current missile defense systems. The scope of destruction from this single attack isn’t getting western media attention and is being ignored by our leaders – at least in public; but we are aware of the dangers involved and hope that someone in power will understand the true risks too.
We also want to mention recent news about Greenland and our leaders’ aggressive ‘diplomacy’ suggesting that our country should ‘own’ Greenland. We’ll take a wild guess that natural resources control is at the heart of this latest power play; and we won’t predict what will happen when the population of Greenland is so low that they’d have no way to stop our military if they choose to move in and take over.
