Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 3rd Birthday, Nolan Ryan!
We haven’t helped out with our Johnson clan cousin’s special day, but we are still happy with our efforts to make Naomi’s birthday as-awesome as possible while also fitting in an exams study session with our friends along with the dinner and party. Once at Naomi’s house, Ethan and I helped with the pre-dinner cooking and hosting duties that included keeping our friends supplied with snacks and drinks; the meal was an adventure; and Naomi loved the gifts she opened between dinner and the cake dessert. The study session started after dessert and the clean-up for some of us; we worked for two hours; and then we watched a movie before most of our friends headed for their homes. Naomi kept her five best friends for a co-ed sleepover; we stayed up too late with another movie and teen chat time to go along with the co-ed cuddling; and then we had a nap for a handful of hours.
It was below freezing this morning, so Tai Chi was indoors and still fun with six of us; we cooked and cleaned for another hot breakfast; and then it was time to get to school. Our academic adventures were not newsworthy today, but we had fun. Ethan and I hosted our friends for the study session tonight – including a Pizzeria pizza dinner. We skipped game night at the Inn, but Mom and Dad went to it; and we managed to keep the work going despite the lack of parental supervision. We worked until Mom and Dad got home again; saw our friends out; took care of the clean-up; and now we’re winding down toward getting some sleep because we’re tired and need the down time.
We usually focus our world news reports on the rest of the world; so let’s take a different tact tonight and keep the stories closer to home. That might not make sense to suggest that and then start with Greenland, but the news we want to comment on is about what the people of Greenland would demand to agree to join our country. Their top demand would be for us to continue their universal health care that Denmark currently pays for now. If our leaders agreed to that; we are sure that it would lead directly to demands for universal health care for everyone else in our country, and with that precedence; the courts might agree. Maybe that’ll be a consequence our President will actually consider, but then he seems happy to just use the military to take over; so what the people of Greenland want would be moot anyway.
There are protests going on in our country that we’re noting but not writing about, but while they are serious; we compare that to the rest of the real problems of the world and don’t think that a single shooting by an ICE agent is grounds for insurrection. We are not siding with the government on this story, but we are willing to wait for all of the facts to come out – or not; since there is a good chance that we will never know the truth about everything that happened in that incident. We are sure that compared to the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and elsewhere; the protesters could have true reasons to get out in the streets against our world leaders but don’t because they just don’t care enough about those distant people that are being killed and exploited by the rich and powerful while we all generally have it pretty good here in our country by comparison. Let’s all hope that what we’re doing in all of those other countries doesn’t come back to bite us here at home, but it is idiotic to believe that it can’t happen.
That’s enough for tonight and we really do want to get some sleep now; so we’re out of here and off to dreamland right now.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
