Ehlana and Ethan:
This has been another busy day, and while we would have loved to be out and enjoying the warm weather more than we could as the high neared sixty degrees; we were indoors most of the day. That started with Tai Chi that wasn’t by the river and a hot breakfast through our school day and school band practice. Sophia hosted the dinner and study session with our friends that included our first ‘official’ mid-term exams prep session. We had fun with that – and the finger foods meal; moved on to our teen praise team practice after that; and then we came home for the night without doing the extra walk to see Naomi and Aiden home because they got a ride from the church instead of walking with us. Mom did a Magi lesson with us; we did a bit of charity work while Dad finished up his work for the day; and then we came upstairs for the usual computer checks and bedtime twin chat.
There is never a shortage of world news, but we’re tired tonight and have a busy day coming up that Ethan wants to be rested up for – if he knows what’s good for him and to keep up with Naomi on her birthday; so we’re going to take another break from offering another rant on the idiocies that are happening daily with our world leaders. Instead of doing that, I’m sending Ethan off to bed right now; and I’ll offer a few comments without his help! ;^)
First up, western media is ignoring a story from the United Kingdom about imprisoned Palestinian protesters that have been on hunger strikes and are now near-death. This is just one example of the new anti-free-speech policies that are rampant in Europe where truth-telling leads to government censure and much worse; and that is happening while true criminals and crimes are being protected and hidden – mostly for the benefit of the rich and powerful. The Middle East is still on the edge of exploding, and in addition to the military power threats; President Trump has also added in a new round of tariffs on anyone trying to do business with Iran. That will likely be ignored by Russia, China, and the other countries that don’t care what the United States does anymore, but it is also true that these economic pressures are the kind of triggers that can lead to hot wars. That actually seems to be the goal for many of our world leaders and the military-industrial complexes in various countries; and we – I mean ‘I’ – continue to hope that sanity will prevail before it is too late.
There is nothing good happening with the Ukraine war, and European leaders continue their plots to turn Ukraine into a NATO base – something that will only happen if Russia is defeated and forced to capitulate on one of the core reasons that the conflict started four years ago. That isn’t going to happen, and all of the western threats are only risking an escalation to a direct war between NATO and Russia. I don’t need to repeat why that would be stupid and disastrous; so let’s move on. The latest for Greenland is a suggestion of putting NATO troops there instead of having the United States take it over, but that is as-dumb as having it become part of our country. News flash – Russia and China do not care about Greenland! It is not in imminent danger of anything beyond normal winter weather for the region; and nobody really cares about those arctic shipping lanes that are frozen over for most of every year and don’t even open up at all some years if the ice doesn’t fully melt by late-summer! Nobody needs to spend billions of dollars on military bases there that nobody in their right mind would want to intentionally work at – especially during the winters. There are very good reasons why an island that large has such a small population!
Finally, for tonight, I’d like to reiterate my position on our policies toward the Americas in general. Yes, we are the alpha military power, but that does not mean that we have the right to control all of our neighbors in the hemisphere and exploit their people and resources – even though that is exactly what we’ve been trying to do since the first European colonists landed on the shores of North and South America. It is wrong; and we are currently going in the wrong direction with pretty much everything we’re doing for foreign policy and political actions that are near-opposite the claims that President Trump made during the last election and in international speeches he’s given since being elected. The transition from claiming a desire to end the previous culture of imposing western ‘values’ on the rest of the world to admitting that our military endeavors are all about controlling natural resources wherever they are is stunning and audacious.
I’d better stop there; since I want to be rested and ready for Naomi’s special day too. Stay tuned for those stories – though we won’t have the top birthday stories until Thursday night; and I’m going off to dreamland right now.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
