Happy 5th Birthday, Rochelle Ryan!
We have had a good day – though not birthday celebration level fun. It was cold this morning, so we stayed indoors for Tai Chi, but it warmed up into the low-fifties this afternoon, so after our academic adventures at school; we went biking on the trails with our friends because we could – and because we know it is going to cool down toward winter again by Wednesday. Ethan and I brought our four best friends home with us for dinner with Mom and Dad; we – the teens – took care of the clean-up after that blast of food and chat fun; and then Mom did a group Magi lesson with us before we did our homework and had some music play time ahead of school band and teen praise team practices tomorrow. We took Silkie for a bedtime walk when it was time to see our friends out and to their homes; had a wrap-up visit in the office with Mom and Dad; and now we’re winding down toward nap time after quick bath or Jacuzzi breaks. Okay, Ethan’s bath time was quick and he’s done most of the computer checks and passed the news on to me, but that works for us when needed; and we didn’t need to add time to our day just to do that together.
On the world news front, our own leaders are apparently not satisfied with the damage they’ve already been doing – now they want to add taking over Cuba to the mix and they are continuing to rattle sabers at Iran because of the protests there that are surely being backed by our country and Israel through spy agencies and NGO groups. To be blunt, bullying Russia and China isn’t working right now; so we expect that picking off the comparatively-weaker countries and territories is a political power play that we also predict will not end well for anyone – including us. The hypocrisy is staggering too, and for one example of that, if it is okay for us to take over Cuba – or Venezuela, Greenland, or any other country in our region because we can; then it must also be equally-okay for China to do the same with Taiwan – an island that our own ‘official’ policy already agrees belongs to them! That template could be applied elsewhere, but we are tired; and don’t want to rant on about yet more, never-ending stupidity from our world and national leaders. Let’s stop there and wrap this up. Life here in our little corner of the world is fairly awesome; we’re looking forward to what will be an amazing rest of the school week; and we can be happy and full of love and joy while hoping for that to be true for everyone else in the world sometime sooner instead of later into our future. For right now, what we need most is some sleep; so we are out of here and off to dreamland soon.
