Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 19th Birthday, Geraldine Sheldon!
The birthday girl is busy at Florida State and the start of her second year of college, but since she’s there with Scott Faulkner and their college friends; we’ll guess that she’ll be having a happy day even without their families around to help with the fun!
Thanks to the current heat wave, it has been as-hot here as in Florida, but in our case, the heat led to a shortened church service and more indoor time than normal for a summer day – at least for us and quite a few of the members of our family. Naomi and Aiden stayed with us after church and we had lunch with Mom and Dad, but then we were set free after the clean-up. We spent some time outdoors, but that was mostly for swim breaks to cool off; and we didn’t even end up going biking for long because it was just too-hot on the trails. We did a band practice at Aiden’s house so that we didn’t get in the way of Dad’s work, and while we’re on that thought; let’s cover the rest of the story from last night. We had an easy-dinner with the Drapers; Leah was there with Hailey for the night too; and we had a fun evening that included a board game; a movie; and the co-ed sofa sleepover. We had chaperones too because Hailey and Leah fell asleep during the last movie, but that didn’t really make any difference to us; and we didn’t want to wake them up just to get them to move to Hailey’s room.
They did make our wake-up call more entertaining, but that wasn’t because they woke us – Ehlana and Naomi woke them before we headed outside for Tai Chi by the river. We loved that start to our day; the breakfast fun was great too; and then we were busy getting ready for that short service – including taking care of the breakfast clean-up. While the band practice and swimming were the highlights of our afternoon, we also headed home without our best friends because they had dinner plans with their own families and we were booked for a quiet meal with Mom and Dad. That worked for us, since we hadn’t actually spent much time with Dad since he got home from Crystal Springs; so we were good with the quiet evening plans with our parents.
We helped Mom with making dinner; enjoyed the meal; took care of the clean-up; and then our evening included a Magi lesson; some chat time with Mom and Dad; and bath or Jacuzzi time ahead of an early bedtime that we’re pretty much ready to get started on now. Before we go there, the Cassie and Michael update is our final task for this report. Their Sunday in Nanning after getting there by high speed train included a working lunch meeting followed by a site visit to the import-export business that they – we – are partnered with; and both the luncheon and meetings went well and will lead to the expansion that has been in the works for quite a while now. They were on their own for another dinner adventure with local cuisine; and then they spent the evening at a charity event that was different because they helped out with putting together care packages for the charity clients; got to know the charity employees and volunteers; and the social time came after the work that kept them busy through until they could finally wrap up their day and return to their hotel room. We do not need details about anything that may or may not have happened after that and for the rest of their night! ;^)
Cassie and Michael only have their Monday to stay and work in Nanning, but we don’t have any details yet; so we’ll save that news for our next report. That is all we have for tonight, though, and we want to rest up for what is going to be a busy week; so we’re out of here and off to dreamland.
