Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 7, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 38th Birthday, Uncle Adam!

Starting the day with a bit of snow probably had nothing to do with Uncle Adam’s special day, but he got teased about that; and we wish that he could have had nice weather instead of a near-freezing day.  He is getting a kid-free night, though, so Aunt Leanne will make sure that he stays warm and happy!  No other details needed or wanted by the kids in the family! ;^)

The top news for our family is the college mid-terms for Cassie, Michael, and their friends.  As a doctoral student, mid-terms are different for Cassie, but at least as much work for her; so she is going to be very busy day and night for the next week or so – through until she finishes marking hundreds of exams.  We’re glad that our week will be quiet and happy without that kind of stress; and do what little we can to add a bit of happiness for Cassie and Michael – even if we can only do that through video chats.

Here at home, while we didn’t need to shovel snow this morning, we did need to salt the sidewalks and driveway and scrape the truck and van windows – which we did instead of Tai Chi.  Mom did a hot breakfast for us; and then our school day was uneventful except for some bus delays due to some icy roads.  It didn’t warm up very much today, but enough to melt the bits of snow and ice; and it was mostly-sunny for the rest of the day too.

Uncle Adam’s birthday dinner was at the Inn, but while we didn’t need to do much work for that dinner; we also didn’t go to the lab after school or go out to play with our friends either.  We took care of some chores around the house; got ready for our ‘dates’ with Naomi and Aiden; and eventually got to the Inn by six o’clock – in time for a social half-hour ahead of the special meal.  While we were technically on official dates, we were also in charge of kid control during dinner – including for Ryan and Sierra while their parents either worked or were with the young couples for the dinner entertainment.  We still had a lot of fun with our cousins and friends; and managed to keep them happy for the couple of hours that we were at the Inn.  Mom and Dad only had Zack and Brianna with us for extra guests when we came home, but Faith, Caleb, and Eli were added to the overnight sleepover guest list; and they were dropped off by their parents after packing overnight bags first.  Naomi opted for a quiet night with her parents over being here with Zack and Eli; and Aiden decided to stay at home too.

We’re not going to cover all of the details from the rest of our night.  I kept the guys busy with video gaming in the lounge until Mom and Dad ordered us to our beds; Ehlana kept the girls busy and happy with some help from Mom; and now we’re winding down with our bedtime computing and twin chat now that our guests are all sleeping.  That’s also enough for this update, and we do need to get some sleep now too; so we’re out of here.

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
