Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 31, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 10th Birthday, Brandon Green!

We had a little group gift for Brandon while at school, but didn’t have any other involvement in his special day; and hope that his family and friends helped him out with having fun!

For us, the last day of March has been good, but not newsworthy.  Tai Chi was indoors due to the cold weather; it warmed up a bit, but not enough to call it a great-weather day; and our academic adventures were followed by another round of lab or archives play time.  We only had Mom and Dad with us for dinner again tonight while Cassie and Michael were busy elsewhere; game night at the Inn was fun – including when Michael and Cassie won the senior title; and then we just finished up with another round of work and a Magi lesson in the office.  Cassie and Michael are home now after doing another bedtime visit with Sierra, but we did the bedtime visit and snack with them in the office because they have work to do and will likely be up late – even with some time phasing help.

It has been another long day, and that’s all we have for tonight; so we’re out of here and off to nap time very soon.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 30, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 27th Birthday, Jake Stone!

Happy 21st Birthday, Shannon Wilde!

We don’t personally have any birthday news for Jake or Shannon, so while we hope they’re both having happy days; we’ll only offer any news if needed after getting those stories from Cassie and Michael sometime in the future.

For our own adventures, we had an amazing afternoon of biking and fun with our friends, Cassie, and Michael while enjoying the awesome weather yesterday.  Dinner-for-eight was really good too; and then our evening included everything from a Magi lesson and a music jam session to movies-and-cuddle time in the lounge.  We loved spending that time with Cassie and Michael – and Mom and Dad; Naomi and Aiden were with us for all of that; and then we ended the day with a co-ed sofa sleepover for the junior couples after the parents and older siblings went to bed.

The weather today has been a bit weird, but not horrible.  It was warmer this morning, so Tai Chi was outdoors and by the river; and then it cooled down a bit through the day.  That’s why we opted for lab or archives play time after school; though that choice was also because Cassie and Michael have been busy with his family and Jake’s birthday celebrations.  The party is still ongoing as we write this, but our evening only included a late dinner with Mom and Dad; we worked in the office and did a Magi lesson; and now we’re tired and ready to crash and nap now.  There isn’t really anything from home to add to this update, and we don’t want to get into the bad news around the world while generally very happy; so that is all for tonight; and we’re out of here.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 29, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

The weather today is awesome, we’re about to go out and play with our friends – and Cassie, Michael, and their best friends; so the news of the day can wait for tomorrow night!

Feel free to flip the digital page in our future to find out all about that while we move on and go live those adventures! ;^)

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 28, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Congratulations to Ellen and Jeff Connor – it’s a boy!

James Connor is the newest member of his family and our little town; he and his mother are doing well; and he also decided to arrive during ‘office hours’ at the clinic; so our doctors and nurses were very happy to meet him – while also being rested! ;^)

Our news today isn’t very exciting by comparison.  Tai Chi was indoors again; we enjoyed the breakfast break with Mom, Dad, Cassie, and Michael; and then our school day was not very exciting even if we did have fun; we opted for a lab or archives play date after school while Cassie and Michael were busy with his family on a parental day off; and our evening back at home has included a Magi lesson; family business work; and a comparatively-early bedtime.  World news continues to generally be bad, and we don’t want to go there tonight – even though we did do charity work to help out with some of those ongoing problems; so we won’t do that and just call it a night instead.

Maybe if the rest of the world tried to have as many happy thoughts as we do; we could collectively start moving in the right directions for what is best for all of us instead of continually messing up as badly as we continue to do right now!

Let’s all dream on that tonight and hope for the best.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - March 27, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 11th Birthday, Jayden!

Our cousin has had a happy day; we only helped him out with that during a breakfast video chat; and it’s possible that Jaimie and Kaitlyn had more fun than their younger brother because Micah and Jeremy went there for the weekend – ostensibly to be there to help out with Jayden’s birthday adventures.  We’re sure that another weekend with their girlfriends had nothing to do with the motivation behind another trip so soon after March Break – not!

Our news from home isn’t that exciting – including the movie last night that Cassie fell asleep during because she has been pushing too-hard lately and is worn down even more than we knew.  While our evening ended without much quality time with Cassie, we did watch the full movie after Michael carried his wife to their room; and the co-ed sofa sleepover was great too.  It was cold this morning, so Tai Chi was indoors again; the food that went along with that breakfast video chat was good; and then our adventures at church and Sunday school were highlighted by everything to do with Cassie and Michael being home for the first time since the Christmas break.  It didn’t warm up much today – only into the high forties; so while we did spend some time outdoors this afternoon; we didn’t go biking; and the family walk was more about getting some fresh air while Dad took a break from his afternoon break.  We had a fairly-large gang of family and friends with us for the late buffet at the Inn – including Miranda and Jacob; Ehlana and I were in charge of the younger kids in our group while Cassie and Michael were busy with their parents, uncles, and aunts; and that was both fun and challenging because Zack and Eli were in fine form tonight and pushed the boundaries a bit while trying to impress some of their friends that were also in the main dining room tonight.

After coming home from the Inn, Mom and Dad needed to do more work in the office; we were sent upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time; and Cassie and Michael have been with Sierra, Ryan, and the kids’ parents at Jake and Stephanie’s house.  We’re wishing for more time with Cassie and Michael, but sharing them continues to be a challenge for us; and we don’t want to make that harder for Cassie – especially when she obviously really needs a chance to rest up for the push to the end of the semester.

None of that has really added up to anything near extreme excitement, but we have had a good day; so we’ll be grateful for that as we wrap this up; call it a night; and go get some sleep.
