Ethan and Ehlana:
Day Two of our parent-free week has been pretty good, but we don’t really have a lot to write about for this report.
The co-ed sofa sleepover at Aiden’s house started sooner instead of later when we collectively fell asleep before getting very far into our movie pick. We were up at normal time for Tai Chi by the river; breakfast included bakery treats – as usual for Aiden’s house; and then our time at church and Sunday school included cameo moments related to the top family stories – Mom and Dad’s anniversary vacation and the fifth win for Michael, Tim, and their college team.
We aren’t, by the way, avoiding regular stories about Michael’s football adventures – it’s just better to read about them first-hand in Michael’s and Tim’s journals instead. They’re having a blast with their team and new friends, but it is also a lot of extra work; so we don’t expect them to be talked into an encore season next year when they’ll need to focus on their post-grad studies.
Moving along, our transition to Naomi’s house for tonight was gradual during the rest of the day as we spent time as a group with the Drapers and Seagers starting with lunch and ending with the buffet at the Inn. Aiden’s parents spent a bit of time at the bakery too, but mostly left that work to their staff for the rest of the afternoon while playing with us. We biked the trails, played at the park; and had some outdoor game time by the river for the entertainment parts of our afternoon; and that has everything to do with why we’re again taking turns for baths or showers tonight. We won’t be staying up late on a school night; so that’s pretty much all we’ll have for news tonight anyway – and I’m not just writing that because Zack and Eli are not here tonight too! ;^)
Another co-ed sofa sleepover is an option in part because of Eli’s sleepover at Zack’s place, and we’ll take advantage of those opportunities while we can – especially now that we’re starting to get teased about the need for them to come to an end as we close in on those dreaded tween and teen years.
Okay, that’s something for parents to occasionally dread, but you know what we mean; and we have been assured that we’ll have standard rules to follow in the not-so-distant future. Ehlana wants me to add that Naomi has every intention of convincing me to break or bend most of those rules too, but we are still only ten; so let’s not get into that sort of discussion tonight or anytime soon either!
