Ethan and Ehlana:
Comparative-quiet to the past few days of non-stop fun feels pretty good to us tonight, and while some of our friends might wish for non-stop action; some of us know that we can only handle extreme anything for a limited amount of time before needing a break. For today, the end to the fall festival arrived in part because we’re getting a lot of rain tonight – though the wettest part of the near-term forecast is still on the way. Before we get to that news; let’s back up to the rest of the story from last night.
While we got to have some time with Mom and Dad last night, they were very popular; and we had to share them with our family and friends while at the park for dinner, the dance, and the rest of the festival adventures. Dinner was another big family event with extra members in our group thanks to Jaimie and Kaitlyn having Micah and Jeremy with them. We should mention that Uncle Blaine has been good this weekend and resisted the urge to come here too so that he could keep an eye on his little girls; and we won’t write about what he and Aunt Alison might be doing with a kid-free weekend to keep him distracted! ;^)
Moving along, the dance and two more rounds of extreme rides kept us busy for the rest of the evening; Mom and Dad had six kids with them when we all went home; and they went to bed soon-after we got here while the lounge was movie central for the rest of us. With Jayden and Jennifer joining us for the night, we didn’t expect to have a co-ed sofa sleepover, but they fell asleep at one end of the sofa while we were watching our Halloween movie pick; so Ehlana and Aiden were happy to follow their lead at the other end of the sectional sofa while Naomi and I camped out in a joined sleeping bag on the floor. We were the only kids in the room to enjoy the cuddle-and-movie time to the end of the show; so we also got the least sleep; and our wake-up call this morning came a bit too-early – especially when Silkie joined in to help with that job.
Having Mom and Dad with us again for Tai Chi by the river was really awesome; and it was the warmest morning in a while too. That worked out great for our exercise time and for the church service in the park. We were a bit rushed to get through breakfast and the rest of the usual Sunday morning busy with eight in the house, but we did get to the park on-time; and the teen-led blast of faith-based music and joy was really great! Mom and Dad stayed with us after the service for a short round of midway rides and lunch, but then they left us at the park to play for the rest of the afternoon and headed home to work in the office and take care of some chores. We had a lot of cameo moments with our family and friends all afternoon, but the highlights included some extra time with Jaimie and Kaitlyn; and the time we spent with Brianna, Faith, and some of the younger cousins that included games, a show in the main pavilion; and a couple of the junior rides. Our play time at the park wrapped up just ahead of the first drops of rain, but that was also so that we could be at the Everett’s house to see Jaimie, Kaitlyn, and Jayden on their way home.
We should mention that Jaimie’s new car turned the heads of every teen in town that saw it this weekend, and it is very nice, but the main reason for that extra attention was really only due to the rarity of ‘fancy’ cars in a country town where gravel roads and farm lanes are part of life for local drivers. Considering the goodbyes we witnessed today; we’ll guess that Jaimie’s car will be seen around here fairly-often – unless Micah is also going to start taking Jeremy along for trips to visit Jaimie and Kaitlyn.
Rain showers helped us to move that goodbye along; we walked Aiden and Naomi home along the way to our house; and have been home since then. Mom and Dad decided to skip the buffet at the Inn because Dad had a lot of work to get done after a week off; and the Inn was likely full anyway for the usual end-of-festival dinner celebrations for the volunteers and workers. Grandma and Grandpa still had a gang of family and friends with them at the Inn, but we were okay with the quiet time with Mom and Dad. We helped Mom with making that meal and cleaning up; we’ve done some chores tonight too to go along with a Magi lesson, a bit of family business work, a music jam session, and bath or Jacuzzi time; so quiet didn’t also mean bored!
That’s pretty much all we have from home, but before we move on; let’s include a minor Cassie and Michael update.
First up for that, Michael, Tim, and their team lost their first college football game. We won’t go into the details that can be read about elsewhere, but while Michael and Tim are disappointed; they each played very well; and the loss was due to defensive problems and a pair of tough injuries. The five-and-one record is still a best-in-years for their team; and they need to move on too because mid-term exams start tomorrow. That’s what Cassie has been busy with more than anything else – especially with her T.A. duties related to the team players. She’s helping all of her friends too; so you can imagine just how busy she has been over the past couple of weeks. Tutoring and monitoring and marking exams will be Cassie’s priority over the next week or so too, so compared to that; our quieter life here at home will be a breeze. Finally, Michael and Tim are going to find out how tough it is to write mid-terms while training for their next football game; so we’ll guess that regular Magi Healing will be involved in keeping them going every day.
Okay, that’s more than enough for tonight. We’ve had another awesome fall festival with some of the best weather ever-so-far for us and we’re very happy as we head off to nap time; so, until next time...
