Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 8th Anniversary, Uncle Mark and Aunt Grace!
The anniversary barbeque dinner for our aunt and uncle is next on our schedule for the day, and we’re booked to help out with some of the work; so this needs to be a quick report.
We had fun last night, but don’t really have anything newsworthy to write about beyond the fact that we enjoyed everything from dinnertime through to when we crashed and napped for a handful of hours. Our adventure plan for today included a canoe trip to the whirlpool with our cousins and friends – or at least the kids and teens old-enough to come with us. Tai Chi by the river made for a quiet start to our day, but then breakfast was a blast of crazy with our gang of campers; and the busy continued while we got ready to hit the river in our canoes. The younger cousins weren’t happy with us for being left behind – as usual, but Zack and Eli were very happy to be included this year. Jeremy and Jennifer were among the friends joining us today, but Micah was working; and Jaimie didn’t seem to mind spending her time with the other girls.
Paddling upriver always takes longer than the trip home from the whirlpool, but the weather was perfect; and we enjoyed the exercise and chat time as we made our way up to the whirlpool without really taking any breaks along the way. We had snacks and drinks along the way, so we went swimming and played in the whirlpool for an hour or so; followed that up with our picnic; and then we had time to play again for another hour and a half before it was time to head downriver again.
The trip home was easy-enough; we just finished up the post-canoeing work; and now we’re getting cleaned up and changed to get ready for the anniversary dinner. That’s pretty much all we have for today-so-far, but we are going to be busy for the rest of the day. In addition to the barbeque dinner, we’ll be taking turns with our ball practices; we may go for a bike ride this evening; and another campfire will likely happen to go along with another camping night.
The details from all of that can wait for our next report, and we should get going again soon anyway; so, until next time...
