Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 4th of July!
We’re mostly going to opt for a double update with our next report, but while we’re on a little break here at home; let’s include a tiny bit of the news of our day so far.
The parade this morning began early and was a bit smaller than usual – mostly because of the changes that linger due to the pandemic lockdowns and restrictions. Our teen-led church service in the park followed as soon as the parade spectators migrated there from around town. That hour of music, faith, and happiness was a bit different too because our congregation was spread out in an area nearly-double what would be normal, but we were still together as a community; and we’re happy that our social norms are beginning to return.
While that service began by eleven o’clock and later than normal, the teens wrapped up the last blast of musical fun by noon anyway; so the first ball games of the day were only delayed by a half-hour. Mom, Dad, and the Ghosts won their second game of the season against the Wraiths – the team that our favorite young adults play on or support; and that’s also why Cassie and her cheerleading squad earned the sidelines victory over Miranda and the girls she had helping out to support the Wraiths. We can report that jokes were made about that loss being due to tired-out pregnant women and Moms with babies or toddlers while Cassie got to have most of the teens and kids while also not suggesting that those claims might actually be true.
The rest of the news for today can wait for tomorrow night. We’re only at home to get changed and help with some work that is getting done now to give us less to do after the fireworks tonight. We want to get back to the park and all of the fun with our families and friends; so, until next time...
