Ethan and Ehlana:
Let’s begin with the baseball report from this morning. The ‘early’ games had Brianna’s Royals won while Zack and the Pandas lost. Ehlana, Naomi, and the Harpies won their game against Taylor’s Tornados. We can skip the details from our busy sports morning, but should mention that all of our favorite players had cheerleaders at their games; so the only loss for ‘our’ teams today had more to do with Zack and Eli having some of their kind of fun and making that a higher priority than trying to win. They’re happy about that, since their antics make them very popular with the spectators; so if the scoring for baseball was by the laughs; they would have won! ;^)
Next up, while our involvement with the new babies and pregnancies in our family has been minimal today; our newest cousins are getting a lot of attention from the adults; and our pregnant cousins are both enjoying the extra attention too along with ‘practicing’ for parenthood with baby time! Christina, Tory, and Trish are each doing well and early-enough in their pregnancies for a summertime holiday weekend to be fun instead of exhausting; so the biggest change for us is having our twenty-something cousins reaching another next-level that separates them from the kid and teen cousins.
That isn’t to suggest that we didn’t spend any time with our older and youngest cousins – only that most of our play time was with our usual gang of cousins and friends. That’s true for time with our parents, grandparents, and others too, but that doesn’t really feel different for us. If we’re having a tough time with any of that sort of thing so far this weekend, it is sharing Cassie, Michael, and May with everyone and not having much time to spend with them.
We haven’t even mentioned May in our journals in a while, but she met up with Cassie and Michael earlier this week after her weeks of travel adventures; and they all came home early this morning – or very late last night. Cassie had T.A. work to get done before leaving; did more work along the way; and has even more to get done by Monday – which is why her work will be as much of an issue as sharing her with our families will have for us this weekend.
Let’s not go on about the not-so-fun parts of our day – especially when we are getting to have a lot of fun and the weather continues to be awesome too!
After a morning of baseball, our afternoon has included a trail ride at the ranch – or corral adventure for some of the younger cousins; we’ve biked the trails, played at the park; spent time swimming in the river; and played games in the back yards of our houses. The Carringtons and Everetts are hosting the barbeque dinner tonight; and we’ll be heading over there soon. This update is being multi-tasked with getting cleaned up and refreshing our overnight bags for camping with clean clothes and alternate entertainment options for when we’re in our tents for the night. We’re never going to be able to cover all of the news from today, but should mention that we had a lot of fun last night too with the campfire, camping, and the rest of the fun with our families and friends. As expected, we had a few more campers too, but that was mostly the addition of the Johnson clan cousins. None of our young-adult cousins camped with us too, but that isn’t really a surprise anymore. We also didn’t get to sleep as early as we should have; so maybe we’ll do better for that tonight; since we definitely don’t want to be too-tired for all of the Fourth of July fun tomorrow! That’s news that we’ll need to write about tomorrow too – or possibly on Monday; since we expect to be on the go pretty much all day tomorrow when we’re multi-tasking a holiday with the usual Sunday church service in the park morning and the parade.
That’s definitely news that can wait for the next report or two, and we should move on and get back to our cousins and friends now anyway; so, until next time...
