Ethan and Ehlana:
Ehlana, Naomi, and their friends had a lot of fun with helping Sophia to have a very happy birthday for the rest of yesterday after our last update. Aiden and I had fun too, but our adventures were not birthday-party-exciting.
First up, Ehlana wants to report that the highlights from Sophia’s party included back yard games; the dinner that included Sophia’s favorite ‘real’ foods and no pizzeria pizza; the Mom-made cake; and the movie-and-makeover evening entertainment. No other details are required for boys that don’t need to know that information; and I’ll pretend not to know what Ehlana means by that even though it isn’t really possible to keep those details from me.
For my side of last night, Aiden and I went biking with some of the other guys until dinnertime; he ended up staying with me for dinner with Mom and Dad that was an easy burgers-and-fries meal ahead of Mom and Dad’s ball practice; and then we cleaned up and headed for the park. We helped out with kid control during the entire practice, and while that included some biking too; we spent most of the time at the playground – including when we had the snack-picnic that Mom sent with us to help out with keeping our younger cousins, siblings, and their friends happy.
We’re not going to comment on the quality of ball play tonight, but do want to mention that at least some of our parents are pondering the wisdom of taking on coaching jobs for their kids and playing co-ed ball too. We get that, but also wonder how that will actually end up comparing to some of our favorite younger adults as they try to mix baseball with being new parents with babies.
Okay, Dillon is still a father-to-be, but Violet might try to join his team sometime after she delivers their baby; so we’ll just group them in with the other new parents like Jake and Stephanie.
Moving along, I came home with Mom and Dad after their practice; we hit the showers to get cleaned up; and then met in the office for some work or studying. I don’t have anything to add for that work-play time; we stayed up too-late; and I crashed into nap mode sometime after midnight. Tai Chi was by the river this morning; it was more fun with Ehlana and Naomi joining us; and then they were back with the Bassetts and their friends for breakfast while Mom, Dad, and I opted for a standard weekday breakfast that was definitely not as good as what they were having today at Sophia’s house. The girls had fun at school with the post-party chat entertainment, but our actual academic adventures weren’t newsworthy. After three days of baseball, we went to the lab or archives after school and worked until dinnertime. We needed to be home on-time for that meal because we were at the Inn for game night this evening too; and that blast of family-rated fun was our entertainment highlight of the day.
After a too-busy week to this point, Mom wouldn’t let us study or work tonight after getting home, so we came up to our rooms; had a little music practice; and now we’re ready for bed and wrapping up the day with our bedtime twin chat and the rest of the usual bedtime computing. Catching up on some sleep is next on our to-do list, and we don’t really have anything else to cover tonight; so we’re going to wrap this up and move on to nap time now. We do have a busy weekend ahead of us; so we’ll need the down time to be ready for all of the fun!
That thought does remind us that we should mention two Johnson family events from today that we didn’t really have any involvement in.
Happy 1st Birthday, James Johnson!
Happy 4th Anniversary, Malcolm and Nadine Sinclair!
We really didn’t have anything to do with their special days today, but did hear from Aunt Leanne and Uncle Adam that their families helped out with the celebrations – including a family dinner party that was for both the happy couple and toddler. We’ll likely hear more about that on the holiday weekend, but can’t resist smiling at the mental pictures that go along with a birthday and anniversary cake scene involving a messy toddler! ;^)
Okay, it really is time to crash and nap now; so, until next time...
