Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 22, 2021

Ethan and Ehlana:

Congratulations Jonathan and Savannah McEwan!

Our newly-wed McEwan cousins only had a few hometown family members actually attending their wedding and reception because that was and is still happening in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Instead of having a mass family migration with all of the expenses for that trip; they decided to only invite Jonathan’s parents, grandparents, sisters, and brothers-in-law while everyone else had the option to watch a live video stream of the ceremony.  We ended up getting in on watching them get married, but let’s start with the rest of our news for the day; and cover that part of our story when we get to it.

First up – our family-and-friends dinner-and-movies night was awesome; and Ehlana and Naomi did not decide that because we didn’t have Zack and Eli trying to bug them all night!  Dinner was a mix of grilled options and various side dishes and salads, but our grill masters got a bit damp while cooking; and we had that meal in the dining room.  A break in the rain allowed for some walks or a bike ride after dinner and the clean-up, but the playground equipment was wet; so we didn’t have any play time at the park too.  Our first movie was kid-rated animation; Dad got home in time to catch the end of it; and then we followed that up with a bit of family-and-friends fun that was indoors too while chatting and having snacks – a last blast of fun before all of our guests except for Naomi and Aiden headed for their homes.

Dad wanted to go to bed then, so our movies and cuddle fun moved up to the lounge; we watched ‘Upside-Down Magic’ for our first show while enjoying the cuddle time; and then we got started on the co-ed sofa sleepover while not watching very much of the next movie that we hadn’t expected to see through to the end anyway.

We haven’t mentioned Cassie, Michael, and May for any of the fun last night, but they were around for most of that fun except for the movies in the lounge because they went out for a while with Rowen, Tim, and some friends – and after Cassie and Michael did a bedtime visit with Sierra.  They got home after we were sleeping; so we didn’t see them again until it was time for Tai Chi this morning.

That start to our day with the extra exercise buddies was awesome; we had a big country breakfast after that; and then the chores morning was not memorable or newsworthy thanks to more wet weather and all of the messy that goes along with doing outdoor chores when getting dirty and muddy is a sure thing.  We worked until past-one; had a late lunch after getting cleaned up; and then Naomi and Aiden rejoined us after hanging out with their own families for the morning at home or the bakery.  A break in the weather allowed for some biking on either side of watching the livestream wedding ceremony for Jonathan and Savannah that we did in the office while Dad was busy with his weekend homework; and then we wrapped up our afternoon with a music practice that Cassie and Michael joined in on because more rain kept us from any bonus outdoor fun for a while.

The adults in the house opted for pizzeria pizza as the main course for dinner, so Naomi and Aiden stayed for that; and then headed home when three-out-of-four of their parents finished work for the day.  We’ve had a quiet evening since then – even with having Sierra here with Cassie and Michael for a while.  We watched a movie in the living room; and now we’ve just finished our turns at bath or Jacuzzi time.  Our day didn’t end up being as much of an adventure as we’d hoped while having Cassie, Michael, and May here with us, but we’ve still had fun; and can hope for another good day tomorrow.  That is all we have for now, though, and we’re ready to go get some sleep anyway; so, until next time...
