Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 3, 2021

Ethan and Ehlana:

Baseball has returned to our little home town!

We’ve had rain today, and that did mess with some of the first scheduled practices of the season tonight, but weather wasn’t a problem for the practices that mattered for our family today.  Both of those practices were at four o’clock; and we were involved to support our cousins and some of their friends.  Brianna, Leah, and Hailey are on the same team this year, and while they’ll only be able to do that once every three seasons; they’re fired up to be in the 6-8 years-old division together.  They’re also really happy to have Aunt Leanne for their coach; and expect to have an awesome season.  Faith is playing T-ball this year, and wishes that she could be playing with Brianna instead, but has a few friends from KidZone to play with – especially since the girls’ and boys’ T-ball divisions only have two teams each; and will practice together.  T-ball games will be instead of two practices each month starting in June; so Faith won’t have games on Saturdays.

For today, Ehlana and Naomi went to watch Brianna’s team because they had multiple cousins on that team, and while Aiden missed out on his sister’s first practice; our favorite girls sent us to the park so that Faith would have some family support for her first-ever baseball practice.  The T-ball teams don’t practice for as long as the older kids or teens, so we were able to bike a couple of trails until Ehlana and Naomi met up with us; and then we played for just a little while longer before threatening rain had us choosing to head for our homes instead of risking getting wet.  It was near to dinnertime by then anyway, and while we didn’t have baseball practices tonight too; baseball is going to affect our dinner times for the first three days of every week from now until the end of August.  Before we move on to the rest of the news from today; we’ll wrap up the baseball recap by adding that our favorite players today all had fun and did pretty well in their first practices of the season.

For our own adventures of the day, we began with Tai Chi by the river that was nice with a morning temperature in the low-sixties; followed that up with a standard school-day breakfast; and then our academic entertainment today was normal with only a quiz and a project due date to deal with – neither of them a problem for us or most of our classmates.  There wasn’t much time between last class and those baseball practices, but we had a snack break with Mom before going to the school or park; and then dinner with Mom and Dad was quick and easy because of both the baseball and the workload that Dad has to deal with this week.  His need to focus on his job had a lot to do with our choice to play at the lab or archives after dinner; Mom came along to play in the archives too; and we ended up staying there until nearly ten o’clock.  Some time phasing allowed us to get more done than normal, but then that is why we’re getting tired now too.  Mom brought us home; we did a bedtime snack with Dad in the office; and then Mom sent us up to bed by ten-thirty or so.

That’s all of our news for today, and we really are tired out and ready to crash and nap now; so, until next time...
