Ethan and Ehlana:
We’ll still offer our double-update today, but won’t cover nearly all of the news of the day – or from yesterday. There has just been too much going on to write about everything when we also have some time limits this afternoon.
First up, Uncle Mark’s birthday dinner and party was awesome, but in a way; it was also really just a larger version of our usual Friday evening family-and-friends dinner-and-entertainment nights. Sure, that wasn’t entirely true for Uncle Mark and Aunt Grace, since they wrapped up his special day with a kid-free night, but no details from that are required or wanted by the kids in the family! ;^) We had fun with the back yard barbeque, the usual birthday desserts and celebrations, and all of the play time that included canoe rides, games, and one trip to the park playground. The rest of the stories from last night can be found in other journals; so let’s move on.
The top news of the day so far for our family is through Cassie and Michael. Rebecca and Lucas moved into their new home on the Norton farm. They’ve earned their Bachelor’s degrees - or will officially have that done after graduation, and while a lot of the move-in work has been done over the past few weeks; they’ve been busy moving their personal belongings from their homes along with any furniture moves that weren’t already done. Cassie and Michael wanted to help with the move too, but couldn’t work that into their schedule without having Cassie need to make another trip back to school to finish her T.A. duties for the semester. She’s been busy with that last night and today; so her work was likely tougher – and possibly involved time phasing to get it done in time to hit the road for home just a little while ago.
We’ve been getting some rain on-and-off today, so parts of Rebecca and Lucas’ move were likely very damp, but then that was true for our outdoor chores today. Mom had us do some of the indoor chores during some of the wettest moments of the morning, but we had a lot to get done with a holiday weekend coming up fast; so we got wet and dirty while doing the yard work and gardening. We also kept going until just a little while ago, and this update is coming to you now because we’re going to switch from work-mode to play time with our family and friends while waiting for Cassie, Michael, and May to get home sometime this evening. They are on the road now, but barely out of the city; so we won’t see them for at least another four hours depending on whether they have any traffic issues.
While they’re in-transit, we’re going to hang out with Mom, Dad, Naomi, and Aiden. Our best friends will be here soon; and will be spending the night so that we can all spend some time with our favorite collegians – though Cassie and Michael will want to at least have a visit with Jake, Stephanie, and Sierra tonight too. We’ll need to share Cassie and Michael a lot while they’re home, but that isn’t something we want to even think about right now; and we’ll just be happy to have them here while we can.
It’s also time for us to wrap this up and get back to the real world again now that we’ve gotten cleaned up and ready for the play time that will likely be indoors for the rest of the day unless we get a break or three from the rain. We’ll let you know how that – and our sleepover with Naomi and Aiden – goes with our next report, but that’s all for today; so, until next time...
