Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 29, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

It was rainy this morning, so our day started with indoor Tai Chi and breakfast with Mom and Dad; and then our academic adventures were all about getting ready for exams.  Ehlana and I hosted a study session after school that included some of Naomi’s classmates so that she could be with us too; and then we only had Naomi and Aiden with us for dinner with Mom and Dad before we all went to the Inn for game night.  There weren’t many teens at the Inn, so Naomi and I won the junior title; and then Ehlana and I walked our best friends home – after collecting Silkie along the way so she could get a bedtime walk too.

That’s pretty much all of our news for today because Mom wanted us to have an early night and didn’t want us to work or even do a Magi lesson.  We’ll skip most of the world news of the day too – except for one good-bad news story out of Switzerland.  The bad news is that a small town was destroyed by a landslide-avalanche that buried a valley and has blocked a river that could lead to more trouble in the coming weeks both up and down-river.  Several hundred feet of the side of a mountain broke away and landed on a glacier, but then the entire thing came down on the town and river – to the tune of a length of more than a mile; a width of two or three hundred yards; and a height in some places of over one-hundred feet.  Yes, that all is as bad as it sounds, but the good news is that the local government evacuated the town when the first landslide was temporarily stopped by the glacier; they wouldn’t let the residents return even to gather up personal property; and that decision saved a lot of lives when everything did collapse into the valley within minutes when the glacier couldn’t hold the extra weight anymore.  Maybe that doesn’t sound like a big deal, but those leaders stood up to the public pressure – and were proved right and possibly saved hundreds of lives!

While we wrap this up and get off to sleep soon; let’s hope that our world leaders will take note of that little story and learn some lessons that they really need to start caring more about the people they are supposed to be caring about more than their own interests in power and wealth!  No, that won’t likely happen, but let’s take this small bit of good news; give credit where due; and call it a night!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
