Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 3rd Birthday, Luke Norton!
Happy 7th Anniversary, Mitch and Lynn Bassett!
Our top news of the day is that Mitch and Lynn are celebrating their anniversary by moving into his family home this week. His parents, John and Diane, are moving into a townhouse in the same section as Jacob and Miranda – his sister and brother-in-law. We thought that they might want to go with a cottage or one of the retirement community homes, but they’ll like being neighbors; and Mitch, Lynn, and their kids are going to love the extra space and yard!
We didn’t get involved in either celebration today, but we did have a good start to the day between seeing Dad and Anna Marie off to the city; Tai Chi by the river, and breakfast with Mom. We had a good day at school; and then we went to the lab or archives to work for the rest of the day. Mom brought dinner to us and spent the evening with us too. Time phasing allowed us to do more work; we got a lot done; and feel pretty good about our accomplishments. We’re also tired; so we need to wrap this up soon.
The Cassie and Michael update is easy – they’re in Indiana tonight and visiting with college friends after a work day with three meetings along the way to that evening and overnight visit. They’ll have more meetings tomorrow as they make their way up to Chicago where they’ll work and spend some time with Madelana and Stefan. They’ll be home on Thursday; and may drive most of Wednesday night to get here; depending on how much work they set up between Chicago and home.
The top news stories today included reports that President Biden has stage four cancer. We are not going to get into the commentary about how long that news was hidden from the public while he was President or whether his health was put at more-risk by avoiding early treatment. Instead of going there; we’ll pray for him and his family and friends. For the record, yes, Ehlana could help him with her cancer cure, but we can’t do that without revealing secrets that we can’t share now – and may never be able to share with the public. The other top story was President Trump’s ongoing diplomacy attempts – this time a phone call with President Putin of Russia. They apparently spoke for more than two hours, but while the meeting is either being talked up or panned by the different factions interested in the Ukraine war; we continue to wait to see actual action toward peace on the ground. That still isn’t happening; and there doesn’t appear to be any progress toward that ‘real’ goal.
Finally, we want to update the story about the tall ship hitting the Brooklyn Bridge. There have been new reports and we now know that there were at least two fatalities for sailors that were thrown from the masts and at least twenty-two injuries with some of them critical. The accident appears to be due to human error as the ship was attempting to leave port but actually hit the bridge while moving backwards just four minutes after being nudged away from its dock by a tugboat. It may have been a combination of current and propellers set in reverse to help back out of the dock that led to it going under the bridge; and the tugboat wasn’t tied on to the ship and couldn’t prevent the collisions. Either way, it has gone past odd to tragic; and our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people affected by the accident.
Finally, we should add the news that there are reports that food and aid shipments have resumed to Gaza and the Palestinians who are being starved to death there, but other reports are that the Israeli armed forces have also resumed attacks on Gaza; so we have no idea whether anything good is happening there or not. The world continues to stand by and allow this to happen, though, and that will be a future regret and worse if we cannot put an end to all of the killing and destruction!
Let’s stop there because Ehlana and I are both feeling the urge to rant for a while. We have done good things here at home; and we need to be happy with that – even when the rest of the world is in such a mess! We do only have three more sleeps before Cassie and Michael are home; so let’s look to the positive and call it a night!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
