Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - November 9, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 23rd Birthday, Jillian Sparks!

Happy 9th Birthday, David Burroughs!

Let’s pick up where we left off with the last report; and see how far we get before we run out of time and need to get going again and back to our adventures-in-progress.

At the top of our news for today, our football team has finished their season, yet while they lost the first-round game; Grand Summit barely survived; and our team played much-better than expected.  The fifty-two to forty-eight score proved that out, and the biggest shock for Grand Summit was the trouble they had with Aaron as he scored four touchdowns and put up a lot of yards as the top offensive player on both teams.  We weren’t really disappointed by the loss; had a blast at the game; and Naomi is especially-happy to have gotten through the entire season without having any seriously-bad weather for any of the games.  That worked for us too; since we do remember the messy nights that Cassie and Rowen had to deal with – including rain, snow, and freezing temperatures.

Our sleepover was actually mostly about sleeping by the time we all got home, so while we put a movie on and had some wind-down teen chat time that wrapped up because we were all sleeping within an hour.

While we got more sleep than expected last night, we still went with a group Magi fatigue healing; Tai Chi was by the river was chilly; and then we had a hot breakfast that the guys cooked and then we took turns with the clean-up while getting ready for yet another fall chores day.  This will likely be the last major outdoor chores day for this year, so we worked harder; and got everything done at all of the homes and cottages on our to-do lists – and it really was a group effort as we worked with gangs of parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  The work stories aren’t that interesting; and we’ll only add that we are very grateful for the lawn tech available to us that makes the jobs a lot easier than it was for our elders – and we’re not talking about the stories claiming mowing lawns uphill in both directions through feet of snow! ;^)

The Carringtons are going to host a major dinner-and-movie night that is mostly to thank the kids and teens in our work crews; so that’s pretty much all we have for today so far.  Ethan and I have gotten cleaned up and we’ve packed overnight bags because Naomi is hosting a co-ed night for just four of us because Sophia and Aaron have other plans with his family.  We don’t want to be late for dinner, since Pizzeria pizza will be the main offering; and Zack, Eli, and some of the other guys will empty the boxes if we’re late; so that’s all for this report; and we’ll have the rest of our story for you sometime tomorrow.

***RESTRICTED UPDATE***

Mom, Cassie, and Michael have already learned that Ibrahim Taher’s son, Khaled, has taken over as head of his family from his father – though we don’t know what has happened to Ibrahim yet; there also isn’t any news about his death.  Khaled is forty-six, and from what we know of him so far; he is as much of a brute as his father.  Thanks to the mess left behind after Cassie and Michael defeated Ibrahim, we can hope that Khaled will need time to recover, but whatever happens; we’ll at least be able to keep track of what they’re doing and hopefully be able to counter their bad with our good – even when that needs to be from a distance.  As with other Dark Magi families, Khaled has one of the larger number of Magi family, and that’s why Cassie and Michael didn’t try to go after all of them at once; so we’re really starting to get a better picture of just how long this battle is going to take as we learn more about all of the Dark Magi around the world.  Mom is learning more about that for families in Africa; since the Taher family keeps track of the other Dark Magi that sometimes clash with them as they fight over regional resources, control, and power.  We’ll have more on this story as we learn more, but that’s all for today.

***END OF RESTRICTED UPDATE***

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
