Ehlana and Ethan:
Since we’re covering the entire weekend; let’s get to our news starting with Friday evening.
Ethan and I had fun with our first welcome home for Cassie and Michael – along with our four best friends; we still had to share them thanks to cameo visits at their house; and that trend rolled on as we all moved back to our house for the dinner and movie night that Mom and Dad hosted – though Dad didn’t get home until after that meal and had to settle for leftover desserts during the movie. In addition to the aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; Cassie and Michael had Sierra, Stuart, and Luke dropped off; so we helped with them – and some of the other next-gen kids too. Our lounge was video gaming central for the kids before and after dinner; the movie was in the living room. The dinner was a pot-luck event and we loved the food while trying to dodge some nonsense from some of the boys – and some food too while helping to feed the toddlers. The kids were mostly in the sunroom for that meal, and while we had regular visits from the adults in the house; we also missed out on a lot of the dinner chat time with Cassie and Michael at the center of those stories. The movie time included as much chat time as show watching. We had to split our time between the living room and the lounge while helping out with the younger kids; and we don’t need to comment on the mess that needed to be cleaned up by the teens in the house after the rest of our guests headed for their homes after the movie and before we could get around to the co-ed cuddle time; another movie; teen chat time; and the eventual co-ed sofa sleepover. We still had fun with all of that – though the nap time was a bit short. Let’s also add that Cassie and Michael moved on with their niece and nephews; took them home to Jake and Stephanie; and wrapped up their day putting the kids to sleep and then having a visit with their brother and sister-in-law before going home to get some rest too.
It was around freezing again on Saturday morning, so after some Magi fatigue healing, Tai Chi was indoors; we had a hot breakfast; and then it was time to split up and get started on chores that were indoors for getting ready for the holiday weekend and outdoors for some minor clean-ups and some prep work too in case biking and canoeing will be an option for our guests over the Thanksgiving break. This might be a good time to mention that some favorite collegians are or will be here for part or all of the week; and we’ll try to spend some time with them while they are here – though that’ll need to happen around all of our busy and their reading week studies. As we mentioned yesterday, Ethan and I spent our afternoon at the lab after having lunch with Mom and Dad; and then we had a blast with Cassie, Michael, and the gang of kids and teens that they invited to be with them for the night. Yes, we had to help with the work and kid control, but we also had a surprisingly problem-free night too; and even Zack and Eli were more-interested in having ‘clean’ fun and visiting with Cassie and Michael than in pranks or practical jokes. Dinner included kid-friendly favorites and finger foods; our evening entertainment included video gaming, music, movies, and lots of chat time and co-ed cuddling. The toddlers went to sleep fairly-early; and the teens stayed up too-late – again for the six of us that stayed up too-late on Friday night. While we had to share Cassie and Michael, it still felt as though we had some quality time with them; and we are really glad to have them home and safe and happy.
Another freezing morning meant indoor Tai Chi again; and then we should skip over the happy chaos that was the time between that workout and getting everyone to church on time. For at least eight of us, but the time we got to the sanctuary; we were ready for naps. That didn’t happen, but we had a good morning during the service and Sunday school. Pastor John went a bit long with his sermon, so we didn’t have a lot of time between Sunday school and getting home for lunch after picking up our overnight bags from Cassie and Michael’s house and helping them with a bit of post-sleepover chores work. That was another blast of busy; Ethan and I only had Mom and Dad with us for lunch, and then, while we were planning on another afternoon at the lab or archives; we got talked into going biking with family and friends instead because the weather was sunny and warmed into the mid-sixties. It is already cooling down again and will be cold for the next few days; so we didn’t feel guilty about playing instead of working.
We went to the late buffet at the Inn for dinner – mostly as yet another welcome home for Cassie and Michael; we had fun at a teen table while enjoying the awesome food and not being asked to help with the next-gen kids. While that was an awesome entertainment wrap-up to our weekend; we were ready to come home with Mom and Dad and were getting tired by then. That’s why Mom only did a short Magi lesson with us before sending us upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time. Ethan was faster at that than I was, but then he took care of most of the bedtime computing while passing highlights on to me telepathically. Don’t find that too-weird – we’re twins; and don’t even think about what we’re doing while being able to sense each other so closely all of the time. Trust me when I report that Jacuzzi time doesn’t even come close to being weird compared to alone time with our respective boyfriend or girlfriend!
World news still stinks on all war fronts; and the political theatre rolls on with no end in sight. Let’s hope that our world leaders don’t accidentally or intentionally blow up the world, but for the record, and just in case they actually are even-dumber than we think; Ethan and I are working on the calculations needed to protect our little corner of the world from nukes and fallout. Okay, there is zero chance that our little town is a target at all in the event of a world war, but facts don’t need to get in the way of having fun with the advanced math required to work out what we’d need to collectively need to do to protect an entire town from that kind of blast! Yes, we are a bit geeky; and our friends would think that we were nuts to even find that kind of math or science fun in any way.
We should wrap this up and catch up on our sleep; so that’s all for this report. Stay tuned; since even the run-up to the holiday weekend is going to be busy and fun!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
