Ehlana and Ethan:
Some of our friends will think that we’ve worked too much this weekend, but we’ve had enough fun too; and that included the hours we spent work-playing at the lab or archives this afternoon. After all of the chores we did yesterday, the Pizzeria pizza and sides dinner with the major gang of family and friends was great; that was true for the movie that followed; and then our co-ed sleepover at Naomi’s didn’t end up being a major event or late night because we were tired by then and we all fell asleep before the movie pick was half-finished. Naomi isn’t really worried about her reputation for that sort of thing, but we did get teased about it; since that was the second night in a row for doing that with our friends.
Since we were at Naomi’s house, Tai Chi was going to be for four, but our timing matched up with the three Carringtons that got up for their morning workout; so we joined them by the river and that made for a happier start to our day. Breakfast with Naomi’s parents was fun; and then we had a good morning at the church service and Sunday school. While we could have played with our friends this afternoon, Ethan and I opted to go to the lab, and we even made up picnic lunches and took them along so that we could do more work while we had the time for it. We stayed there until it was time to go home and help Mom with dinner; we had fun with that little blast of work and the meal with Mom and Dad; and then we’ve spent the early evening working in the office. Cassie and Michael needed to do a bit more flying today because they moved from Algiers to Niger; and the coming week is going to be very busy for them as they only have a couple of days each to spend in Niger, Mali, and Morocco before starting to make their way home again with some scheduled stops along the way to visit with some friends. Some of our work this evening was to help out with their work in Africa, but Mom is doing more of that than we are; and we were mostly supporting projects they’ve already started over the past month.
Mom sent us upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time by a bit after eight-thirty; and we were okay with that because it really has been a ling, busy weekend. Once we were cleaned up, Ethan joined me for our bedtime twin chat and computing; we’re caught up on the latest news, social, sports, and entertainment news of the weekend; and we also have spent some time discussing my plans for the coming weeks and months as our cancer research moves into new phases leading toward being able to move from research to actually starting to cure cancer patients. That’s an entirely separate issue to deal with, and since we’ve mentioned those issues before; we don’t need to get into them again tonight.
There are going to be some changes starting tomorrow with one of the biggest being that Naomi will no longer have cheer squad practices every day. Naomi and Aaron may start doing more with the teen praise team as we head into the Christmas season, but we’ll keep you posted on that if it happens. I’m going to want to keep working as much as I can at the lab, but we’ll work that out with our friends too. We should be able to do both at least for this coming week, since we don’t really have anything major on the schedule for special events, but we’ll still be busy – which is why we should take advantage of the chance for extra nap time tonight.
Before we go there, we should at least offer some commentary on world news and politics. First up, what can even be said about the fact that we still don’t know some of the election results even five days after the election? Sure, we know that President Trump is now also President-elect, but there are still Senate and House races that are undecided; and still millions of votes that haven’t been counted. Ethan and I won’t even try to predict what will happen in politics over the next four years, but it is a good thing to at least hear talk about ending wars from both sides of the various conflicts; and we’re also hoping for the best here in our country that the transition will be mostly-peaceful. Yes, there have been anti-Trump protests, but there haven’t been many serious incidents related to those rallies; and it would be great if nothing worse happens between now and inauguration day. There is a lot of nonsense happening around the social networks from both sides of the political aisles, but that should settle down soon; and everyone will eventually figure out that life will go on as normal for most of us – and that is usually true regardless of the names of the leaders in charge of our country. I’ll also mention that we could all use a bit of perspective, since we may have unique challenges, but we should all consider ourselves blessed by comparison to most previous generations when we really do have it easy – whether we’re looking back at world wars or beyond to what it was like to live here in past centuries.
Okay, that’s enough for tonight. This has been a very happy weekend, I’m still flying high over our successes at the lab; and that is sure to continue because I’m sure that the next steps of our work there will continue to succeed regardless of the testing we’ll be doing on every known type of cancer. We’ll keep you posted on those stories as we go along, and I’ll even offer some updates for Ethan’s work in the archives too, but it is nap time now; so we’re out of here.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
