Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - November 7, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

The Seagers were able to host the family-and-friends’ dinner and movie fun last night because Liz took a rare Friday night off from the salon – or at least rare for what was normal before the pandemic.  Dinner was pot-luck, so that was great; and Zack wasn’t too-annoying – possibly because this was a Seager-Ayres’ family event; so we were on the friends’ side of the equation this time.  While dinner was entertaining, we also loved going for a walk on the trail while the clean-up was happening; and Christmas arrived early because the younger kids picked Christmas shows for the movies part of the night – starting with the new Elf Pets cartoon.  The reindeer finally got to have their own show, and since we had wondered why that had happened while the dogs and foxes had their own stories told in animation; we’re glad that omission has now been fixed! ;^)

Our co-ed sleepover plans didn’t work out thanks to extra sleepover buddies – and not just Zack with Eli.  Leah and Sebastian were added to the mix early; and then Hailey was added so that Leah wouldn’t be outnumbered by Zack, Eli, and Sebastian.  The family movie time was great, and then after everyone else headed home; the family room was taken over for gaming by the guys.  Ethan and Aiden were in on that because they pretty much had to do it; so the girls in the room watched them play and had a nice long chat while also listening to music.  We won’t drag out the news for the rest of our evening.  There was some fun; quite a bit of annoying for the girls; and some of us really wished that we could have had another co-ed sleepover.

Tai Chi in Naomi’s back yard was warmer today, and we still had great weather, but it was also a bit cooler today.  That worked out for another fall clean-up chores day; since warm was near-perfect for that kind of work.  Anytime we get to do the big clean-up chores when it isn’t cold and raining or wet is something to be thankful for!  We were on our own for that work with Mom and Dad while our friends and cousins were doing the same at their own homes; and we were kept busy until dinnertime with short breaks that were mostly fit in between the bigger chores jobs – including our lunch break.  We needed bath or Jacuzzi time after dinner and that clean-up, and while it isn’t that late yet; we’re going to bed early because we’re tired.

Before we do that; let’s include some world and national news.  While the elections continue to be the bigger story according to the media; the more-important news this weekend should be the fact that we’ve topped fifty million confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide; and ten-million cases in our country.  Total worldwide deaths have passed one-and-a-quarter million; and the new numbers for both are still on the rise.  That, by the way, is something that seems to get hidden in the news reports if not denied.  We don’t like that; since it makes things worse when people don’t have the truth about what is going on around them – and it has a lot to do with why so many mistakes continue to be made over dealing with the pandemic.

To try and put perspective on that, while the worldwide cases at fifty million may sound awful; that number will need to grow to five times that to catch up to where our country is at right now – and we’re setting records for new cases every week.  Our point is that every country should understand that; and use the best practices and treatments that have been learned so far this year to try and keep this from getting to that level – or worse.  There are, after all, still billions of people who haven’t had this disease before; and we really don’t want to even think about the costs that would go along with everyone catching it sometime over the next few years.

Compared to that, the election seems unimportant to us, but while Joe Biden is likely to be our next president, the fight is continuing; and could take weeks to be decided – in the courts.  Having a lawyer for a father may color our perspective on that, but to be honest; we just think that the whole thing is a waste of time and money; since it won’t really matter in any meaningful way whether Trump or Biden gets to pretend to be in charge for the next four years.

That’s definitely cynical, but there seems to be good reasons to feel that way; and we don’t expect to be proved wrong – though that would be a refreshing surprise.  Just imagine how much nicer the world would be if we stopped all wars; helped everyone be healthy and happy; and saved the planet from the messes we’ve made  - especially over the past few centuries!

Will you be laughing at that while reading this update in our future?  We’ll have to wait and find out for ourselves, but then our hope is in the Ascension of the Light; not in our politicians or other leaders of the world.

That’s enough for tonight, and we really are ready to crash and nap soon – so we will.

This is Ehlana and Ethan Proctor; live from the hidden home of the Magi of the Light – and May the Magi Force be with you!
