Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - November 14, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 11th Birthday, Nicole Johnson!

We weren’t involved in her special day, but we’re sure that her day was more-fun than ours; since we’ve had yet another chores day around here.  Before we get to that non-news; let’s cover our Friday evening fun.

Dinner was pot-luck and entertaining – though not always in a good way thanks to Zack and Eli.  That was, in-part, because the kids had the sunroom while the parents were in the dining room.  Zack was happy to take advantage of the opportunity to annoy the girls at the table; and Eli is usually willing to help him out with that – especially if that includes pestering Naomi.  Video gaming in the lounge followed dinner, but only while the clean-up was going on; and then we had everyone in the living room for the Christmas movie that was the main entertainment option.  ‘Jingle Jangle A Christmas Journey’ is a cute new show with music that we liked a lot; and even Zack and Eli managed to sit through it with only moments of annoying that didn’t get in the way of enjoying the movie.

Our guests headed out after that; we helped with the clean-up; and then moved on to the lounge for another movie and the co-ed cuddle time that we knew would continue into a sleepover.  That was fun, but we were also tired by then; and didn’t actually last until the end of that second show before all four of us crashed into nap mode.

We needed the rest.  Tai Chi by the river was early, and while it wasn’t as cold outside; it was still cool.  That wasn’t true for the rest of the day, since it warmed up nicely, but we also got some rain here and there; and that made for a messy, sometimes uncomfortable day.  In addition to the yard chores, we did extra work inside; and Mom got started on pre-cooking and baking for the holiday weekend.  That might seem early, but she wants to have a lot of that work done before Cassie and Michael get home next weekend.  We helped with some of that work too, but not until after we got cleaned up from the outdoor work.  Naomi and Aiden are busy with their families tonight – and were with them since shortly after breakfast; so we’re having a quiet night at home.

By the way, we don’t usually have other friends over for sleepovers or camping except in groups, and that is different for us than it is for most of our friends; so we should likely work on that – though not until after we get past the pandemic restrictions.

We should likely include a pandemic update tonight.  New records are being set; and we’ll have more than four-million new confirmed cases for this week.  New cases are exploding in our country, and after blasting past one-hundred-thousand cases in a day just a week ago; we’ve now jumped past one-hundred-and-eighty-thousand cases for the single-day high this week.  Vaccine news is popular again this week, but we’ll continue to be cautious for all of the reasons we’ve mentioned in other updates.  What matters right now, though, is that we don’t have a widely-available vaccine; so we collectively need to do better than we are with controlling the spread of the virus and treating patients.  Another round of lockdowns and other restrictions aren’t going to be popular – especially at Christmas, but we don’t want to get into the economic impact of the pandemic tonight; so let’s move on.

That’s pretty much all we have for today.  Our evening included a movie with Mom and Dad; and now we’re just listening to Christmas music while doing our twin chat and this update.  It isn’t that late for a Saturday night, but we’re tired again; and did work fairly-hard at least until the outdoor chores were done.  We’ll hopefully be done with the worst of that work now anyway as long as we don’t get any non-winter storms, but then we’re also not in any hurry for winter to get here; so we’ll have to wait and see how that goes for us.  That is all we have, though, so we’ll wrap this up; continue the chat and music time for a while longer; and then go get some sleep.  Dad still has a lot to do to get ready for his week in the city, so tomorrow will likely be quiet too, but we’ll try to have some fun too; and will let you know whether we manage to do that or not with our next report.
