Ehlana and Ethan:
We’re doing another early update today, and
may continue that trend through the weekend; since our evenings are going to be
a bit busy with the cousins-and-friends camping adventures that we might end up
doing every night as long as we don’t get any major rain interventions.
This has been a play day for the kids and
teens while most of the parents were busy working at home or elsewhere; and our
house was home base for that; since Mom was available to keep an eye on us and
have food available when needed. Having
Jaimie, Kaitlyn, and Jayden to hang out with last night and today without the
rest of the gang around yet was awesome, and while we’re still doing social
distancing too; we’re also using masks some of the time too – a change that is
really going to kick in a lot this weekend around town as masks are provided
for both locals and visitors so that we can still have the parade and a light
version of the usual celebrations at the park on Saturday and Sunday.
It’s been another hot day, so a lot of
swimming went along with the biking and canoeing; and our camping last night
was great too; including the barbeque dinner with the parents and the campfire
that included some twin-led music with help from our best friends. We missed having Cassie and Michael with us
for that, but Cassie only has one more day of exams; and then they’ll be home
again by tomorrow night. Cassie has been
talked about quite a bit today, and that could continue this weekend; since the
parents have been making comparisons to her first year in town to now because
we’re the same age as she was back then.
Jayden has been included with us; while Jaimie and Kaitlyn have been
getting teased because they’ve changed so much over the past ten years.
That will really be apparent to Uncle
Blaine again this weekend; since Kaitlyn has already spent some time with
Jeremy Green today; and Micah Byrd is coming over later to see Jaimie. We won’t be surprised if both boys end up
joining our camping adventure, but we’ll let you know how that goes in our next
reports.
It’s totally-wrong to write this, but those
last thoughts have us laughing about how happy all of the fathers like Uncle
Blaine must be this year; since social distancing and lockdowns are quite
possibly the best-ever way for keeping teen boys away from their little girls!
;^)
Let’s not take that thought too much
further; since we could totally see those same fathers having a contact-tracing
app that isn’t just for coronavirus!
Moving along, we had a few chores to go
along with the play time this morning, but we’ll be on junior-cousin kid
control before and after dinner – which is also why we can’t spend a lot of time
on this update. Aunt Alison took the
lead during the rest of today with Brianna, Faith, and the other younger kids
so that we could still play without being slowed down, but she gets to have
some quality time with the other Moms and Dads now; and Jaimie and Kaitlyn will
be in charge of the kids-entertainment with help from us, Naomi, Jayden, and
Aiden.
We’ll let you know how that goes with the
next report too, but before we get back to the family-and-friends’ fun; the
last bit of news we have is about incoming guests. Some of the Johnson clan has tomorrow off and
are inbound tonight; so we’ll have at least a few extra cousin-campers
tonight. Most of the Rice clan is going
to be here tomorrow night, but Martin and his girlfriend, Kimberly, are going
to be here by dinnertime – barring any traffic issues; and they’re bringing
Jillian along so that she can have another holiday visit with Julian
Sparks. That connection isn’t
technically in the family, but that won’t keep anyone from having fun with that
story – even though Violet has that in common with her sister’s best friend
instead of with Dawn!
Dawn, by the way, won’t be home this
weekend because she’s working at the airport instead, but may come for a visit
on her next days off – especially if that might work out with timing the end of
Jillian’s stay with us. We’ll offer more
on the family visitors news over the next few days, but that’s all for now; and
we need to get back to the play time with our cousins and friends.
