Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 7th Anniversary, Uncle
Mark and Aunt Grace!
That’s the top news of the day, but we’ve
had a lot of fun too – including the family-and-friends’ anniversary dinner
party that Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne hosted.
The couple of honor was roasted at that dinner and are now getting a
kid-free night too, but we’ll leave those stories for others; and don’t want
most of the details anyway!
Cassie is back to her studies, so she
couldn’t spend much time with us while busy with her online lectures. She could have taken an extra day off, but
didn’t; since that only meant that she’d have to make up those lectures and
assignments by the end of the week anyway.
While some parents got back to work –
including Uncle Blaine; Mom had some support for kid-control with parents that
were still here or had the day off anyway.
They needed help with some tents that needed to be packed up today, but
we still have a fairly-large camping group again tonight; and we had another
campfire tonight too. We also had a very
busy day of biking, canoeing, swimming, and game-playing; so it still feels
like the holiday weekend is going on.
Sure, we’ll still have the cousins’ home-town vacation for the rest of
the next two weeks after most of the parents head home tomorrow, but that will
be a bit different; and we’ll entertain ourselves more than relying on
adult-led adventures.
That’s what we’re going to comment on
tonight – the entertainment and how that’s different for our cousins; and
getting more-obvious this summer due to the age gap. At the older-end; Jaimie, Kaitlyn, and Kara
have more friends their own ages hanging out with them already this summer –
with Micah and Jeremy leading the way and doing their best to spend as much
time with Jaimie and Kaitlyn as they can – though they need to work that out
around summer jobs and chores at their homes.
Kara’s very popular this summer too; though she doesn’t seem to be as
happy about the attention from some of those guys; and prefers to hang out with
our cousins – and with Ryan Bassett; since he is already a friend first; and
not at all annoying to her.
The cousins in our age-range, including
Jayden; are happy to hang out with us; do the biking and everything else we
like to do with our friends. Eddie and
Nicole are on the verge of their tween years, but they spent more time with us
today except for after dinner and at the campfire; when they wanted to hang out
with the tween-teen crowd. Robyn and
Leah spent some time with us too today – as did Zack and Eli, but the boys
bugged them too-much; and they ended up spending more time with Brianna, Faith,
and the younger cousins. Finally,
Tristan and James are still here today, but so are their parents; and they won’t
be staying for much longer – just a day or two – before heading home. Tristan is only two-and-a-half, but while he
half wants to stay for a vacation with his cousins; he’s not quite ready to do
that without his Mom and Dad.
Maybe he’ll be ready for that next summer.
Okay, that’s all for tonight. We’re writing this while at our house and
getting ready for bed – doing that here so that the available washrooms at the
Carringtons’ house aren’t overloaded.
The co-ed cuddle time in our tents is next, so we need to get back to
our tents – and help with getting the younger kids tucked in for the night too
if needed. Let’s hope that the fun will
continue tomorrow, but we’ll need to live the adventures first; so we’ll wrap
this up and go do that.
