Ehlana and Ethan:
The anniversary dinner-roast was likely
more-fun for the adults, but we – the kids – had fun too while not getting in
on the stories and jokes. Our evening
entertainment last night included games, swim time in the river, and a campfire
– though the kid-free parents and adults didn’t stay late; and it was up to
Mom, Dad, and our grandparents with some teen support to get the younger kids
into their tents for the night by eleven o’clock or so.
We did not have another breakfast at the
Inn today, but that was okay with us; since we found out that we were heading
out to Quarry Lake for the day instead.
Getting ready to go there was a rush of non-stop busy, but we were
motivated; and ready to go on-time. This
was the Malloy’s first visit to Quarry Lake since the new lake and activities
opened; so we had extra fun because of that; and an awesome day with some of
our favorite people! There were some
issues because the campground got busy by early-afternoon, but we used masks;
were careful; and left earlier than planned when the parents decided that there
were just too-many people that weren’t being careful about social
distancing. Considering the fact that we’re
still setting records for total new cases every week, that seems ridiculous to
us, but this seems to be a lesson that a lot of people still need to learn the
hard way. That sounds harsh, but take
that as meant; since we really don’t wish the worst on anyone.
We don’t want to start a rant about that,
but just to be clear; keep in mind that we don’t have to worry about getting
coronavirus – or basically any disease.
We care about this because we do have people that we love a lot that are
at risk of getting very sick or worse; that should be true for most younger
adults, teens, and kids; and none of us should want to risk getting this virus
and passing it along to our parents and grandparents!
Okay, that’s enough of that; so we’ll only
add that we’ve topped sixteen million cases today – in just four days this time
for the latest million new cases; and we’ll top forty-thousand new deaths –
worldwide – this week for the first time in three months.
Moving along; we are home now; another
barbeque dinner will be coming up next; and this update is again early because
we’ll have Valerie and Marcus with us for the camping tonight. We’ll have another campfire tonight too –
mostly because the Malloys can’t do that sort of thing at their house in the
city – or at least that isn’t the same as here.
We’ll be providing some of the music tonight with help from Naomi and
Aiden; and there will be back yard games and more swimming to go along with the
food-and-fire fun. We’ll offer more on
that with the Sunday night report, but that’s all for now; so we’re out of
here; and back to the real world again.
