Happy 1st day of Advent – and December!
In honor of the new Frozen movie sequel; we’re
going to start this year’s Christmas music video series with a couple of our
favorites from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure – one of our newer holiday favorite
shows.
Ethan:
This has been an awesome, crazy-busy day
and end to our holiday weekend!
Tai Chi was indoors and for seven; since
Cassie and Michael came over for one last chance to do that with us – and then
they took May home with them for the gourmet breakfast option. that made it easy for us to have that meal
with just four of us and get ready for church, but then we helped out with some
car, minivan, or SUV-loading for outgoing family – including Cassie, Michael,
and May – before going on to church and that Advent service and our Sunday
school class.
That rush of busy was needed because of our
plans for the rest of the day – though there was a bit of time after church to
get that packing and loading work done before we all met up at the Inn for the
first buffet sitting of the day. We had
a blast with that too, but then the entertainment highlight of the day was the
trip to the Christmas tree farm that most of our weekend guests went along for
so that we could share that annual adventure together this year. The farm wasn’t too-far out of the way for
most of our family for their trips home; so it was just the holiday fun that
slowed them down – and we had a lot of fun!
We had other families and friends there
with us; which was why we had some bonus entertainment because we also helped
Naomi’s Dad to celebrate his birthday while her Mom was busy at the salon and
one more day of holiday weekend busy.
Going on a hay ride to pick out Christmas trees along with the rest of
the Christmas fun might not seem like the best birthday party ever, but we
really did all have a special day; and I guess that anyone with December
birthdays is used to having Christmas in the air on their special days.
I can’t possibly cover everything we did
today, but we picked up a couple of truckloads of trees, lots of Christmas
treats, and some new decorations. A few
of our outgoing weekend guests had trees with them too, but most didn’t; and
the goodbyes were fairly-quick because everyone really wanted to get on the
road for home by then – including Cassie, Michael, and May. If Tim had put a tree on top of his Corvette,
we’d have taken pictures; but he wouldn’t do that – and they’re going with
artificial trees for both townhouses anyway because they’ll be home for
Christmas and won’t be able to care for a ‘real’ tree.
The busy continued for us when we got home
again. For me, that included helping Dad
with delivering trees; and then we had fun for the rest of the afternoon and
evening with decorating the tree on either side of our leftovers dinner snack –
and we did just nibble on food after already eating more than enough at the
lunch buffet. Dad had some work to do
after that, and we helped Mom with some chores, but Ehlana and I also came
upstairs for early bath and bedtime plans instead of hanging out in the office
too. That works for us, since our
holiday adventures are really just getting started now. Thanks to the late Thanksgiving; our
Christmas fun will be a bit compressed too; so every week and day is going to
be busy for us.
We’ll need to rest up when we can, and
right now is an option for me; so I’m going to wrap this up and move on to nap
time.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
That’s a fairly-complete update; so I’ll
only add a couple of comments.
Ethan and I talked about having Naomi and
Aiden here again for the night so that Naomi’s Dad could get a kid-free night
for his birthday, but that plan didn’t go anywhere because Naomi’s Mom wanted
her kids at home for the handful of hours she actually had free to help Mr.
Seager with his birthday celebration once she was done work for the day. We loved getting to spend that bit of extra
time this afternoon with Cassie, Michael, and May; and really happy that we
could do the Christmas tree adventure with May too. Our tree is awesome, but we took it down a
notch or two for size this year; and I like that little change. Cassie and Michael couldn’t be here for the
decorating, but that could be true for most years from now on; so we’ll need to
get used to that change too.
All of our holiday travelers are home safe
as I write this; though the trip times varied a lot – and the traffic snarls
were awful for some of them. I’m glad
that we don’t have to deal with that sort of thing very often; but we do trade
that off for the work we do here instead – both before and after every holiday
weekend. Ethan’s right about the
Christmas fun continuing from here to Christmas, and I took extra time in my
Jacuzzi too; so I’d better wrap this up and move on to bedtime too.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
