Happy 18th Birthday, Karla!
Happy Friday the 13th, everyone!
Ethan:
That’s a weird combination for a birthday,
but Karla won’t mind, since her boyfriend, Brock, proposed to her today. I don’t know if that was a scary or brilliant
plan, but either way; it’ll be easy for Brock to remember!
Our Friday the 13th hasn’t been
scary – though pranks and jokes were attempted at school. Miles and Joshua made their attempts; failed
or succeeded depending on your perspective; and either had a blast or didn’t –
which brings me to the thoughts that I’ve had today that I do want to write
about tonight.
Fights with friends.
They happen all of the time – even in our
happy little town; and I’m thinking about it today because some of our friends
are having their first fights of the school year. I want to write about this because Ehlana and
I don’t have fights with our best friends, and while we do have other friends
occasionally get mad at us; we don’t fight with them in return. There are a lot of reasons for that
difference, but I’m thinking about it today because it’s something that does
set us apart from the other kids – and that’s true for every Magi kid. I’m not suggesting that only the Magi kids
are always nice, and this might not even be something that most people will
notice over time, but it is true that the Magi kids we’re growing up with don’t
have the same little conflicts with their friends that is normal for most kids.
That has a lot to do with our training,
since controlling emotions is very important to controlling our Magi
talents. For Ehlana, Naomi, Aiden, and
me; there’s more to it thanks to our connections to each other. Some people might hate that connection –
having other people know too much about them, but it doesn’t feel that way to
us – and there’s always a sense of love and joy we share that’s a milder
version of the connection that Magi Masters have to the higher plane of reality
– our connections with God.
Don’t go Star Trek and think of our links
as similar to the Borg collective; since it isn’t like that either. It’s like knowing the other people connected
to you nearly as well as you know yourself.
That idea would definitely scare most people, but my point tonight is
that, when used the way we use our bonds to support and love each other; those
connections make it easy to avoid the fights between friends. We never miss-communicate; we don’t do things
that we know the others don’t like; and we know what each of us needs – or doesn’t
– at any time; so we can help or stay out of the way as needed too.
Zack might be a valid contrarian case, but
then the ‘public’ persona he’s creating for himself is intentional; and we all
know that. He also doesn’t have this
Magi bond with anyone else that I’m aware of so far, and while he has his fun
to the point of annoying the people around him to exasperation; he doesn’t have
any ‘real’ fights with his friends.
Ehlana, Naomi, and Brianna likely have a different opinion on that, but
even when they get mad at Zack; they don’t stay mad for long.
Okay, that’s enough on that topic for
tonight. Let’s cover the news of the
day; and then I’m going to get some sleep.
We had a good day at school – even with the
Friday the 13th fun and weirdness.
We went out to bike and play after school because it was nice out and
our friends convinced us to do that instead of playing at the lab and
archives. Dinner and a movie night was a
bit quiet this week, since some of the usual guests – or hosts – were busy with
other plans tonight – including Naomi and Aiden with their families; but we had
a lot of fun with that too – and it’s nice to have a smaller group to hang out
with now and then. Ehlana is having a
sleepover with Brianna because she’s as much of a pushover as I am; which is
why we watched a bonus movie in the lounge after her parents and brother went
home to get started on a ‘sister-free’ night.
I shouldn’t skip over the fact that Zack was one of the kids having
too-much fun with the Friday the 13th theme today – including tonight;
which has a lot to do with why Brianna was past-ready for a break from him.
Brianna and Ehlana are wrapping up their
night with some girl chat time, but I’ve had enough fun; so that’s it for me
for this report.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
I like it; don’t have anything to add; and
it’s time for me to get some sleep now too – now that Brianna’s finally wound
down and out for the count.
If our adorable little cousin was a
rechargeable battery; she could likely power a small city for a week at a time!
Oh, wait – she actually could do that; if
there was ever the need! ;^)
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
