Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - September 6, 2019

Ethan:

I’m going to leave this update to Ehlana except for commenting on one thing that I got razzed about a lot tonight.

Naomi and I were not on a date for the football game, but I wouldn’t have cared if we were; and we were together for most of the time we were at the school anyway – along with Ehlana and Aiden; and the group of family and friends that were there for the first home game of the season with us.

We’re going to keep getting teased about it regardless of what we do; so maybe I’ll just start asking Naomi out on dates for everything from our bike rides to dinner and a movie nights with our families!

I’ll let you know how that goes for us.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

Naomi loves that idea, Ethan!

This update is coming to you while Naomi and I are doing our first sleepover and bedtime girl chat of the school year.  Ethan and Aiden are playing video games in Ethan’s room by now; and we just finished watching a movie after getting back from the football game.  We’re ahead of the full report; so I’ll back up and start from the top of the day.

Tai Chi by the river and breakfast with Mom and Dad were fun and uneventful; our school day included bonus outdoor time to take advantage of the nice weather; and then we biked and played at the park with our friends until we needed to be home to help out with junior cousin control before dinner.  Our first family and friends dinner and a movie – or football game – of the school year was a blast while we were at home; and the football game was fun even though our team lost their second game of the season.  Ethan got teased more than Naomi did about that ‘on-a-date’ thing, but she has fun with that too; and we know that the guys that razz Ethan the most are also most-jealous of him.

The movie night at home that was mostly for the Moms and younger kids that didn’t want to watch football was finished by the time we got home; and the rest of our guests left soon after that.  Camping was an option for tonight, but we decided to go with the five-star accommodations instead.  Our movie choice in the lounge was Halloween-themed even though it’s a bit early for that; and might have had something to do with Naomi’s interest in some quality cuddle time with Ethan.  The movie wasn’t scary, but we don’t have to tell anyone that; and even Aiden and I ended up doing a bit of cuddling by half-way through the show.

Naomi would have been happy to do a sofa sleepover with Ethan, but Mom and Dad stopped in on their way to bed and sent us to our rooms.  We do have a busy day booked on Saturday, so we really should get some sleep soon, but Naomi and I will have it easier than the boys because they have a guys-only camping night booked for Miles’ birthday tomorrow.  I may do another sleepover except at Naomi’s house while Ethan’s busy – just to give Mom and Dad a kid-free night, but I’ll let you know about that; and it might depend on whether we’d get stuck with Zack and Eli too or not.

That’s it for the news from home, but I’ll add that Cassie and Michael have had a good week at school; and they’re wrapping it up tonight with a nineteenth birthday celebration night out for one of their friends – and with their usual gang of study buddies.  We don’t have any details yet other than that they were going out for dinner and then to a party somewhere, but any news from their night out will have to wait for a future update – whenever we get the chance to have a long chat with Cassie sometime this weekend.

I don’t know how that will work out yet this year, but it could be that Sunday morning breakfast chats will be part of the routine; since Cassie seems to actually be busier this year than last – as amazing as that is for most people around us to believe.

Oh wait – Cassie and Michael are newlyweds; so maybe that is believable – even if that isn’t for the top reason most others would expect! ;^)

I shouldn’t have gone there.  Naomi’s thinking about that sofa sleepover with Ethan again.  I’ll wrap this up; try to distract here while we wind down to nap mode; and then maybe she’ll still be here in the morning instead of in the lounge with Ethan; since sneaking into his room and waking him up to do that after I fall asleep is what she’s thinking about now – if that grin on her face is any indication.

This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live from what is now my past!
