Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - February 8, 2019

***Ethan and Ehlana Special Update!***

Happy 18th Birthday, Cassie!

Congratulations, Cassie and Michael!

The big news of the day is that Michael proposed to Cassie for her birthday this morning!

Yes, we knew in advance, but Dad knew first – thanks to Michael asking for his permission to do this while at home for Christmas.  That’s very old-fashioned, but still a tradition around here; and that’s actually something that goes a lot further back into Magi history than even most of the Magi here realize.

We’ll have more later, but the vid-chat with Cassie, Michael, Rowen, and Tim was fun; and the funniest part of that news was finding out that Michael managed to surprise Cassie by keeping her busy opening a gift full of nothing but pounds of tissue paper; and then producing the ring and making the proposal when she got to the bottom of the box and found nothing.

Let’s give Cassie the benefit of the doubt and not suggest that even that little trick wouldn’t have totally worked on any of us.  Michael did go through the effort of trying, though, and deserves all of the credit for an awesome gift and proposal!

Stay tuned... there will be more to come!

Ethan:

The engagement news was a great way to start our day – even though we couldn’t be there too.  I’m going to leave the rest of that news to Ehlana; since she probably has more of the details from the hometown side of that story than I do because I’m pretty sure that every girl in town and at school was talking about it around here as it became the top gossip story of the week – or month.

Ehlana definitely had more fun with this all day at school.  I actually didn’t get bugged about it much by the other guys.  There isn’t much that they can say, since my brother-in-law-to-be is one of their football heroes.  I’ll guess that I’d have been in for a bad day if I’d been getting a future sister-in-law instead.  The girls, on the other hand, all think that Ehlana is lucky, and depending on their age; wish that they were as lucky as Cassie.  I’m getting into her turf for this update; so let’s move on.

We played after school – in part because the girls needed to stay together to gossip as well as have the play time.  That’s also why Naomi and Aiden will be with us overnight – and engagements and weddings are sure to be a top chat topic during our family and friends dinner and a movie night that’s getting started as I write this.  We’re hosting the dinner tonight, and I need to get back downstairs and help out; so I’ll wrap this up – and include any news from the rest of the day with my next report.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I’m going to do my update early too; so let’s get right to it.

First, Cassie’s birthday surprise this morning was just the first; and she’s going out with a gang of friends to a dinner and show – with the show being a college theatre production of one of her favorite musicals – Wicked.  That’s going to be a lot more fun than our dinner and movie time, but we’ve had an awesome day around here too.

The teen girls are at least a bit jealous of Cassie; the Moms have differing reactions from ‘wish they were my kids’ to ‘too young to get married already’ and more.  Any opinions that aren’t in favor of Cassie and Michael just proves that the person offering them don’t know our sister and her new fiancĂ©e very well at all.  My friends think that I’ve done well with the brother-in-law choice; and we had fun talking about weddings and how much fun we’ll have with Cassie and Michael’s big day.

There was speculation for the ‘when’ they’ll get married too, but I’ve no doubt that they’ll get married this year – either between Cassie’s spring and summer sessions at college or before the fall session starts in August.  That isn’t something that many of our neighbors will understand, but then they don’t know that money is not an issue for Cassie and Michael.

Our play time after school was fun – including that gossiping that Ethan mentioned; and now I need to get downstairs and help out too – though that’ll likely just be cousin control for Ethan, Aiden, Naomi, and me.  I’ll have more from tonight with the next report too; so stay tuned for more engagement and wedding news as we hear more over the weekend!

This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live from what is now my past!
