Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy Fathers’ Day to all of our favorite Dads!
Happy 28th Birthday, Violet!
We’ve been busy all day so far, and we’re currently getting ready to head to the Inn for the late buffet dinner; so we’re fitting in this report now because we’re going to be busy for the rest of the day too – including a major sleepover at Cassie and Michael’s house for quite a few of our younger cousins.
Backing up to the end of our last update, we enjoyed the dinner that needed to be indoors thanks to the thunderstorm; the canoe ride was a fairly-major event with all of the available canoes in-use by parents, cousins, and some friends. We loved doing that with Cassie and Michael too, and then we had fun with the campfire that was mostly for the kids and teens. Cassie and Michael stayed for an hour of that too, but then they went home for the night while we stayed up too-late with our campfire music and stories entertainment that kept us busy until we got around to getting some sleep. Yes, Ehlana and I had our favorite cuddle buddies for the night; we got teased about it; and are still managing to get away with it despite the expectations of a ban now that we’re tweens – or almost there for the two of us about to hit the twelve-year milestone.
Only having a long nap didn’t keep us from getting up early for Tai Chi by the river; we had extra exercise buddies for that; and then Mom and Dad had a lot of parental support for breakfast. All of the fathers of the campers were there; we celebrated with gifts and extra fun for all of them; and then we eventually all made it to church in time for the annual ‘gift’ of a short service that was a lot of fun and allowed us to get on with our day from there. We had some work to do after getting home – including packing up our tents and gear while the adults worked on the barbeque lunch. After doing a Stone family breakfast, Cassie and Michael were with us for the Proctor family lunch – though that included other families including the Ayres and Johnsons. That meal was really good, and then we’ve spent the afternoon playing, biking, and canoeing. There was only a bit of swimming, but that was mostly because the river is still a bit on the cool side; and we’re just getting to the mid-eighties high of the day now.
We’re running out of time to get this done before we need to get going again, but Father’s Day and Violet’s birthday have us thinking about both the past and future; so let’s play with that for a minute. For the past, while our birth day didn’t come after a Fathers’ Day that was also Violet’s birthday; we do remember that prenatal weekend – especially the fun everyone got to have with giving Violet her first car. Violet, Dillon, and the kids were in Woodvale yesterday and this morning, but they are home again now; and will be at the Inn for dinner. It’s funny to think about the fact that she was only four years older than we are now back then, but that’s true for most of our favorite younger adults – including Cassie and Michael. That Fathers’ Day was also the first for Dad; and we really love the fact that it was the first for both Cassie and for us too! ;^)
It would be easy to fill a book with all of the memories since then, we won’t try to do that here; and want to move on to some thoughts on the future. Having Cassie and Michael home to stay is just one part of the differences we expect to have as we enjoy our summer break. We’re expecting to do more work – either at the lab or with other jobs like chores and babysitting. Aiden is going to be doing more at the bakery, and Naomi might spend some extra time around the salon, but we haven’t really worked anything out for a schedule yet; so we’ll have more on that soon. We’ll start working on fun plans too – including with our families, but for now; we’ll mostly just be getting ready for the Fourth of July festivities. We aren’t forgetting our birthday or the annual shopping trip ahead of the holiday, but there isn’t really anything for us to do about either of those events; so we’ll leave it up to our favorite adults to take care of the planning and work while we just enjoy those adventures.
As we’re thinking about everything for our near future, it seems that we don’t actually have time to write about even all of the busy we foresee for the next couple of months – so we won’t try to do that and just wrap this up. You’ll be able to read all about our future after we’ve lived those stories anyway – and whenever you’re reading our journals in the future; so we’ll get back to living those moments right now!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
