Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 6, 2022

Ehlana and Naomi:

It’s the girls’ turn for our update – and that isn’t just because Ethan is a guy and doesn’t even notice half of what is happening around him!  Okay, we’re just teasing about that; since Ethan is at least as aware of his surroundings as any Magi Master – possibly more than most when you factor in some of his specific talents.  Naomi is laughing at that right now, but when you think about that; I’m not wrong.  For example, how many Magi do you know that can memorize every word on everything they see lying around them at a glance – and be able to recall that perfectly anytime they want for the rest of their lives?  Yeah, Ethan can do that – and to an extent that is as far beyond my own talents for memory as his reading skills exceed what Mom, Cassie, and I can manage.  That is not jealousy on my part, since I have my own special talents too; and I’m okay with being unique! ;^)

Moving along, our day has been pretty good, but not really very newsworthy.  Ethan and Aiden definitely had a quieter morning than we did with Zack and Eli around to annoy us – though they didn’t start doing that until they were called to breakfast after sleeping in too-long.  Our time at church and Sunday school was different with Mom and Dad away, and Naomi made sure that the entertainment highlights for us were because she paired up with Ethan and had me with Aiden for the walk to church, during the service, and after Sunday school – though nobody really believed that we were taking advantage of having Mom and Dad away for any tween-couples-rated social opportunities!  Naomi is laughing at my phrasing for that, but we’re eleven; and anything more-interesting or graphic would not only be inappropriate; but also not going to happen for any of us anytime soon.

Naomi’s Mom had to work this afternoon, and so did Aiden’s parents, so Ethan and Aiden took care of feeding lunch to themselves while Hailey went home with Leah and her family.  Naomi and I were with her father, Zack, and Eli; and that had everything to do with why we escaped as soon as possible to meet up with Ethan and Aiden for an afternoon bike ride on the trails.  Since the trails in the woods at the park were still pretty muddy, we opted for the trail to Quarry Lake.  We didn’t go all the way out to the campground – only about half-way; since we wanted to be back in time for a long band practice that we needed to continue to get ready for our next recording sessions – the final two that we’ll need for the Christmas album.  We weren’t planning on an audience for that music, but ended up with Brianna, Faith, Leah, and Hailey – and only went along with that because they managed to meet up with us while escaping from Zack, Eli, and the boys that were hanging out with them all afternoon.  We wouldn’t have gotten anything constructive done if we’d also had a small gang of junior hecklers, but Brianna and Faith also took care of Silkie for us; and we all had fun with the music play time.

Dinner was at the Inn for the late buffet; we met up with the Seagers, Drapers, Everetts, and Ayres parents and kids for that meal; and we ended up at a table with Ethan, Aiden, and our four-member audience from the afternoon practice.  Yes, Naomi, we actually had five spectators at the house, but for some reason; Silkie still isn’t allowed to join us for meals at the Inn.  Feel free to suggest pet buffets to Miranda and Stephanie – I’m sure they’ll at least find the idea amusing if impractical.  The food was as awesome as always; we ended up being among the last guests to head for our homes; and that worked for us because Naomi’s Dad then kept Zack and Eli busy while Naomi and I took our turns having baths; and then we had a girl chat with her Mom while Zack and Eli got cleaned up and ready for bed next.  That hasn’t kept the boys from trying to annoy us since then, but it is a school night; so they have already been ordered to cease and desist.  For the record, even Magi junior pranksters can be motivated to play nice when risking a school week without favorite electronic devices!

That’s enough for this report, and it’s time for us to get to sleep anyway; so the only comment that we want to add is to mention that we love Ethan and Aiden a lot!  Those admissions don’t really even scare our favorite boys when offered in public and around our friends; so we’re wrapping up this update with that non-news simply because everyone in the world should tell their favorite people that they are loved more-often.  If we all did that; maybe we could collectively get our priorities straight and actually fix all of the problems instead of continuing to mess everything up.  A rant isn’t in our plans for tonight; so we’re out of here!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
