Ethan and Ehlana:
Our lives haven’t radically changed since deciding to start a band, but it feels like that at least a little as we add music practices to our daily activities. Today that practice happened after dinner at our house; Mom did another group Magi lesson with us before Naomi and Aiden headed home; and we’re thinking about using one of the third-floor guest rooms for our practices so that we can leave all of our gear set up. Let’s also mention that Naomi really is our band leader; I’m out front with her because of the simple reality that guitarists can be more-mobile than drummers and keyboards players; and we all take turns with singing the melody and harmonies. What is most-important is that we have a lot of fun!
As for the rest of our day, Tai Chi with Mom and Dad by the river was chilly this morning; and we really noticed that compared to the hottest parts of most days for weeks now. We followed the workout with a standard school day breakfast; and then our academic adventures were fairly-normal; and the sidelines entertainment mostly revolved around football and the usual weekend tween and teen dramas. While we had sun and hot weather this afternoon, we really needed to spend more time in the lab or archives; so we missed out on the after-school play time with our friends. Our efforts in science or books and learning are more-serious and important than pretty much everything else we do – including our new band; so we need to juggle our responsibilities with the joy and happiness that we get from sharing the fun parts of our lives with the people we love the most. We’re doing our best to do that, and can be content that we are mostly finding a balance that works for us, and we are still only eleven; so we’ll continue to enjoy being kids while we can!
With that in mind, we’re going to move on now; wrap up our day with checking out some music videos for songs that we might like to use with the band; and then get some sleep!
