Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - September 6, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 2nd Birthday, Colin Sinclair!

Happy 22nd Birthday, Hu, Liang – Lee!

Heading back to school is our top news of the day, but we did wish Colin and Lee the best for their special days while they were here on the weekend; had family gifts for them; and hope that they’ll be having a happy day.

Here at home, our day has been fairly-awesome.  There were some strange moments too, but while Naomi moved on to the next level a year ahead of us – Grade Seven; she doesn’t care about the social challenges that go along with that; and nothing will really change between us.  Ehlana will not let me move on without mentioning that I shared several hugs and kisses with Naomi today, and she was dressed up and spectacular; so all of the razzing that followed from the guys was all about being jealous.  Ehlana and Aiden were only different from Naomi and me by degrees for their hugs and kisses; and Aiden was definitely as-impressed with his favorite girl!

Moving along, we love getting to have Alicia Warren for our teacher; Naomi and most of her classmates are excited to have our teacher’s mother-in-law, Emily Warren, for their teacher; and Naomi is also very excited for the extra classes she gets to have fun with this year – especially instrumental music class.  We had a lot of fun in our classes, and the highlights included some outdoor time thanks to another awesome weather day and getting right into lessons in some of our favorite subjects.  Our lunch and breaks seemed normal to us, but part of that was because Naomi and Samantha Norton wanted to hang out with us – and our usual gang of friends – despite the social risks.

Before we move on to the after-school news, we should also comment on the first day of school for our hometown cousins.  Zack, Eli, Leah, Hailey, and their friends have started Grade Four.  Zack and Eli were fired up; in top form; and happily joined in on razzing me about everything to do with Naomi.  They didn’t keep their kind of fun exclusive to us, though, and we can understand why some teachers don’t really joke about getting paid extra for having Zack and Eli in their classes!  Caleb and Sebastian moved up to Grade Three; and we don’t have much news from their day so far.  Brianna is happy to be in Grade Two; she had a cameo visit with us at lunchtime and then after school during the walk home; so we know that she’s had an awesome day too.  Finally, but also among our favorites with Brianna, Faith is in Grade One; and seemed happy-enough while leaving the talking to Brianna when they were with us.  Faith usually hangs out with Brianna and Amelia; and the three of them are also usually at the center of a small group of Grades One and Two girls.

That was true after school, and it only seems a bit strange to us that Brianna and Faith have been given their independence for after-school adventures – just as we were the year we turned seven.  We crossed paths with them while out with some of our friends and biking the trails and at the park, but before we got to that, we had a snack break and story time with Mom; and then we met up with our friends at Carolyn’s house.  That allowed us the chance to check out the progress on Cassie and Michael’s house.  There wasn’t much new to see, but there were some new deliveries; so they are getting ready to move on from the foundation experts to the carpenters any day now.

The biking kept us busy until dinnertime, the parents surprised us with a multi-family Pizzeria pizza dinner; and then our evening was a return to our normal work and studies – though we also had a special group Magi lesson before the tweens and kids that got in on that lesson headed for their own homes an hour or so after the rest of our dinner guests left.  The family business work was fun; Mom used a time phase to help us out with getting done and still have time for a good night of rest; and that’s why we’re upstairs and wrapping up our twin bedtime chat now instead of sometime after midnight.  That’s also enough for tonight, so we’re going to wrap this up and go get some sleep.  Stay tuned, since we think that we’re going to be in for another best-ever kind of school year!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
