Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - July 9, 2022

Aiden, Ehlana, Naomi, and Ethan:

I am writing this update for Ethan and Ehlana because Naomi insists that Ethan needs to cuddle with her for a change while I take a turn.  It is very tempting to report that we had a lot of fun since the last update and wrap this up, but that apparently is not good-enough.  With that in mind; let’s just get to it!

Brianna’s birthday adventures really were amazing, and two of us in this tent are a bit jealous of the kids with summertime birthdays.  Quarry Lake is not fun in late-fall or early-winter; so we settle for living vicariously through our friends.  We helped out a lot with most of the party work yesterday – and this morning, but my highlights included the new water slides, the swimming, and one trip on the rock wall and zip line.  The barbeque dinner at the Carringtons was awesome, the evening play time included some back yard games and more swimming; and then the outdoor movies were a blast – though some of the guys tried to annoy Brianna and her friends because they picked the first two Disney Zombies movies – mostly because they are excited about the third movie in the series that comes out next Friday.  Since we helped out with the movie-time work and then getting the younger kids into tents for the night; we stayed up very late; and didn’t get much sleep.

Tai Chi by the river this morning came too-early; we had to rush around to get everyone fed; and then we headed to the park for baseball games that lasted most of the morning.

Sebastian’s game was up first, and while Caleb was away with his family; the Marshals still won over the Wranglers.  After that battle, it was time to split up for our games.  Ehlana and Naomi led the Belles to a big fifteen-to-five blowout over the Senioritas – a game that was never really close at all.  Ethan and I can’t say the same.  We earned our first loss as the Cheetahs took the win by a run – eleven-to-ten.  We’re not all that disappointed, and Ethan would likely skip any details for the loss, but I’ll do it – if only to offer a different perspective.  We – the Bobcats – had the lead going into the bottom of the final inning, but the Cheetahs tied the game; and then won on a fielder’s choice error that Zack and Eli teamed up on while showing off and forgetting to look for what should have been the right play.  They earned an out, but not the third one; and a base runner advanced and scored the winning run.  Note to Zack and Eli if they get to read this in the future – don’t self-celebrate and razz your opponents when your ‘great’ play wins the game for them! ;^)

After the morning baseball adventures, we split up for chores with our own families; that took most of the rest of the afternoon; and then our evening has included a quieter barbeque dinner with all three of our families; a small campfire that only ended up having a few extra guests; and now it is just the four of us in one tent for camping by the river.  There is still some camping happening at the Carringtons, but we’re not in on that; and only had one ‘raid’ that was repelled without major complications.  Now we’re winding down toward nap time; I’m ready to trade this computer for cuddling with Ehlana; and there isn’t anything else to add; so we’re out of here!

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Aiden Draper and gang – junior Magi of the Light!
