Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - July 17, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 1st Birthday, Jacob Jennings!

As we deflect on the weekend while winding down toward nap time tonight; Jacob’s special day wasn’t really very high on our list for best moments; and we’ll hope that his family took care of making his day awesome.  We did see him at church and offer our best wishes; Mom had a gift for him; and our own lives moved on from that cameo moment.

For us, the top news was probably the return of the Everetts after their vacation in Seattle with Uncle Mark’s family.  They got home last night after some travel delays, but they did get here; so that’s better than can be said for a lot of travelers that have been dealing with cancelled flights and tougher problems.  We’re happy to have them home again; and enjoyed spending time with them at lunch, this afternoon; and at the Inn for the late buffet.

There was a bit of rain this morning, but since we were at church for most of that; it didn’t get in the way of our fun.  Mom and Dad hosted that barbeque lunch for the family as we welcomed the Everetts home.  The afternoon fun included swimming, biking, and back yard games.  Dad didn’t stay with us for much of that because he needed to get ready for his week in the city.  While Dad missed out on some play time, we are all used to that ahead of his monthly trips to Crystal Springs; and he does at least know better than to do the work when other family fun is more-important – like buffets at the Inn! ;^)

Our evening has been quiet with a bit of work, a Magi lesson, and no extra guests.  Aiden and I weren’t up late last night, but Ehlana and Naomi were while at Jennifer’s party; so Ehlana is definitely ready for some extra sleep tonight.  While on that subject, the girls reported an awesome party, and while it rained last night; the forecast had been enough to move the camping indoors; so getting wet wasn’t a problem.  Jennifer’s parents didn’t go with anything major for her party – like a day a Quarry Lake or in the city, but Ehlana advised me that the choice was Jennifer’s; and she’d opted for a specific gift instead.  We know what that is, but will write about it later this summer.  The party they did have was fun for the girls; and they were very happy when we saw them this morning – including when Aiden and I met up with Ehlana and Naomi for a damp Tai Chi by the river before breakfast and church.

Okay, we really haven’t covered all of the news for the weekend, but we are supposed to get some extra sleep tonight; so that’s all for today.  We do have an imminent surprise ahead, but we’ll save that news for our next update too; so stay tuned for that while we move on to nap time now.

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
