Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - July 24, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 22nd Anniversary, Terry and Angela Malloy!

Happy 15th Birthday, Ryan Bassett!

Happy 21st Birthday, Serena Kendall!

Thanks to some rain in the forecast for tonight, we’ll be going with indoor sleepovers and play evenings; and our house is home base for the teens and tweens while the Ayres’ homestead gets the kids with Leah and Sebastian hosting cousins and friends.  We’re writing this update while getting ready for the late buffet at the Inn, and don’t have much time; so let’s get to the news of the past day.

The barbeque dinner yesterday was another food adventure that we loved a lot, and we had to get through that fairly-quickly because we then headed to the park to support the Witch Falls Willows as our favorite young adults earned a twelve-to-eleven win over the Aspens.  While we had some play time and a swim too, we watched more of the ball game last night; and took turns helping out with the youngest kids and babies while parents were busy.  We followed that up with a campfire; helped out with music entertainment; and had another too-late night that included more than an hour getting younger kids into their tents and late-night cuddling while chatting with a small gang of teens and tweens that included a bunch of our cousins and their friends.  We had a lot of fun; so the lack of sleep continues to be worth it!

That doesn’t mean that we weren’t a bit tired for Tai Chi by the river, but we also needed the break before we were again very busy getting through the extreme busy that went along with feeding a gang of kids and teens while also getting ready for church.  The work and breakfast fun kept us going non-stop; so the time we spent at church and Sunday school helped as much with giving us a chance to find a bit of inner peace as boost our faith in God and our families and community.

The surprises were sprung on us as we headed home from the church – a trip to Quarry Lake for a picnic lunch and the afternoon.  No, that wasn’t really a surprise for us, but we played along; and really enjoyed the best surprises.  Topping that list was having the Malloys meet us at the campground with a small gang of their own families and some friends so that we could all celebrate Terry and Angela’s anniversary.  The next-best surprise was that the Bassett clan and some of their friends were also doing a party for Ryan’s birthday; so we pretty much just ended up combining the parties and picnic lunches.  That was especially-great for the teens and tweens, since our teens could hang out with Ryan and his friends while Sophia and some other friends joined our gang of tweens.  We did all of the usual activities except the zip line and rock wall; the lakes and water slides were where we spent most of our play time.

We just got home and unloaded the truck and van; we’re getting cleaned up for the dinner and getting the lounge ready for our evening plans; and that’s pretty much all we have for this update.  We will add that the Malloys and many of their party guests are staying for that late buffet at the Inn, but they are heading home after that due to work schedules that Terry and Angela both need to deal with tomorrow.  Ryan’s party is continuing at the Inn too; so we expect to continue to hang out with Sophia.  Finally, there is a fair bit of tween and teen drama already going on around our cousins, but we don’t have time to get into that now; so stay tuned for upcoming reports; since Ehlana and Naomi will definitely make sure that I include at least some of those stories in our journals.

We really do need to get back at the work, though; so that’s all and we’re out of here!

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
