Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 6, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Starting our day with an early birthday breakfast for May was awesome, but saying goodbye to our favorite collegians already was tougher – and we’ve been thinking about Cassie, Michael, and their friends a lot today.  Before we get to that, we can mention that it was very cold out today; we stayed indoors as much as possible; and that’s why we were back at the lab after school too – though the work-play distractions helped out with missing Cassie and Michael too.  Dinner with just Mom and Dad seemed very quiet; we followed that up with a work and Magi lesson study evening; and now we’re taking more time than usual to wind down toward nap time.

As mentioned, our thoughts have been on Cassie, Michael, and their friends today; and that is partly because quite a few of their hometown friends will be graduating from college this spring and moving home again to stay.  That won’t suddenly change our lives in any significant way except for seeing them at least every Sunday, but we are helping many of them through the family business; and we’ll do what we can to help each of them make a successful transition from student to living and working in the ‘real’ world.  It is also nice to know that we’re getting closer to having Cassie and Michael home again too, but a year and a half still seems too-long; and we wish that it could be different.  We’ll have more on some of Cassie’s friends coming up in May and June, but that’s all we have for that tonight.

Our final news topic is the pandemic and the Covid Omicron variant – again.  Yes, it is exhausting as we pass the two-year mark for dealing with it, but we’re also setting new record daily and weekly highs here in our own country and around the world; and that’s leading to another round of lockdowns, quarantines, and travel restrictions.  We get why the numbers can seem scary as we have blasted through one and then two million new cases a day worldwide, but not nearly enough of our political leaders are weighing the social and economic costs that are piling up in staggering amounts too.  We’re blessed and grateful to be spared the worst of those problems here at home, and wish that we could do more to help everyone that is being hurt so badly – whether that is from the virus or the policies and regulations that are such a burden on their daily lives.  We cannot keep ranting on this subject; so we’ll continue to hope that our leaders around the world will find a better way to deal with Covid; since what we’re doing now is quite obviously not working; and in too-many cases, doing more harm than good.

Okay, that’s enough for tonight.  We didn’t mention game night because we didn’t go to it tonight.  Yes, we usually do, but Mom and Dad had lots of work to do in the office; and we were all okay with staying indoors and warm too.

Being warm in our beds sounds pretty good right now too, and while we don’t have any major weekend plans; we do want to be fully-charged and ready for whatever we end up doing; so we’ll wrap this up and move on to nap time now.

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
