Ethan and Ehlana:
We don’t really have much personal news for today. It warmed up a bit today and was sunny, but the mid-forties high didn’t cause a major snow melt; and we mostly enjoyed the warmer weather made our after-school snow play better. We’ve followed up our academic and outdoor adventures with a quiet evening with Mom and Dad while our favorite collegians have been hanging out with Michael’s family; and now we’re winding down toward nap time after another round of Jacuzzi or bath time that we needed because of those hours of sledding, snowboarding, and the rest of the usual snow games.
While that’s pretty much all we have from home, we should write at least a bit about the current Covid surge that is one of the top news stories around the world. There isn’t really anything new to offer about the Omicron variant, but the political reactions vary widely and radically; and that does affect us – especially through the family business. Travel restrictions continue to be an issue for all of our local volunteers; and the fluid nature of those regulations makes it very difficult to plan new trips or go ahead with trips when the rules get changed with little or no notice. Mom is also leading the way to help out where we can wherever pandemic restrictions cause so many problems for the poorest people around the world. We are never going to understand how anyone in power can knowingly hurt so many people without a care for what they’re doing, and the past two years have shown us that we have a lot more to do than defeat all of the Dark Magi along the way to the Ascension of the Light.
Getting into a rant about any of that won’t change anything; so we’ll simply add that we’re collectively doing what we can to counter as much of the bad in the world as we can; and we try not to let everything else that we can’t help with overwhelm the love and happiness that we need most in our personal lives.
Okay, that’s enough for today. We need to get some sleep – especially since part of our evening entertainment included several time-phased hours of family business work while we didn’t have non-Magi company in the house. Our day might not sound nearly as exciting as Tim’s parents’ trip to their island getaway vacation or Grandma and Grandpa’s trip to Arizona, but we have still had a happy day; and we feel pretty good as we wrap this up and head off to dream land soon.
