Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 25, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

When the temperature drops by more than fifty degrees in less than twelve hours, it doesn’t matter what time of year – you notice!  We don’t personally really have any reason to complain about that beyond the weird that is coming with the wild flips in temperature every two or three days, but the farmers don’t like it; and they could have problems with winter crops that aren’t being protected by extended cold or snow on the ground so far this winter.

The cold had everything to do with why we stayed indoors for Tai Chi; our adventures at school; and our lab or archives play time between school and dinner.  Our evening entertainment ended up including a group Magi lesson with Zack and Brianna; and now we’re getting an early start to our winter’s nap time because we’ve had enough fun for the day and can do that.  We do need to continue our updates for Cassie’s and Michael’s friends; so let’s add a few more now.

Since we left off with Michael’s cousins; let’s expand on that to include more of Cassie’s and Michael’s year or more older friends.  Jen and Garrett are at the top of that list for us thanks to the Pizzeria, but we don’t really have a lot of news for them.  They’re always happy whenever we see them; and they are enjoying married life for reasons that we don’t need to mention or comment on here or anywhere else!  They haven’t joined the young parents’ club yet, but that could change; since they both really love to spend time with Rebecca and Lucas when they’re ‘practicing’ for impending parenthood with Sierra; and we’ve heard jokes about Jen waiting to ‘cross over’ until she gets Rebecca’s first-person report on the entire pregnancy through to birthing.  That’s all for show, since Aunt Jen also loves her niece, Jessica, and is seen playing or cuddling with a lot of babies at the Pizzeria or elsewhere; so we’ll predict a sooner instead of later start to their admission to that club!

Anna-Marie Palmer and Cal Jennings are currently dealing with an ongoing separation while Anna-Marie is doing her doctoral studies in law while Cal has earned his Master’s degree in mechanical engineering specializing in green energy; and is now working at the Solar-Wind farm.  They’re engaged, and plan on getting married after she earns her doctorate, passes the bar exam, and joins Dad as a junior law partner, but it is still tough for them right now – especially since Anna-Marie is also getting work experience through a law firm that Mom and Dad helped her to connect with – mostly so that she didn’t need to add a couple of years to her time away from home so that she could get that more-intense training after she passes the bar.

Finally, for this update, let’s include Carolyn and Jeff Morris; since Carolyn was one of Cassie’s favorite baseball team mates.  Carolyn works with her Mom and Aunt Tracey at the dealership, and is happy-enough doing that work, but she really loves helping out with the girls’ sports teams at the high school; and is a kid-favorite baseball coach too.  Jeff’s Master’s degree in Political Science doesn’t get pushed to the limits through his current jobs with the town and Ridge River District work he does for all of us, but he has some political aspirations; and might be looking toward future State or Federal jobs – though not necessarily trying to become an elected politician when that’d mean being away from home for most of every year.  They’re coming up on being married for two years this April, but haven’t joined the parents’ club; and they don’t seem interested in doing that at all – just as Kyle and Erin don’t seem to be in any hurry to join a lot of their friends in that club.  That doesn’t seem strange to us; since we know that we have a local history with lots of couples waiting to have kids until they’re in their thirties – including with our own family.

That is enough for this report, though, and we do want to get the extra sleep tonight when we can actually do that; so we’re out of here.

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
