Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 1, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy New Year – 2022!

There might not be any sayings related to a New Year roaring in like a lion, but we’ve thought that a time or two today as last year went out like a fuzzy, warm lamb and the snow storm rolled into town starting around four o’clock this morning with a howling wind if not a roar!

This update is happening during a break between the latest round of shoveling and our planned buffet dinner break; and we’ve decided to keep this short and go for a weekend update tomorrow night.  For this mini report, though, we’ll assure you that our New Year’s Eve dinner and party at the Inn was awesome; we only missed the start of this storm by an hour or two while we napped for a few hours; and then our holiday weekend adventures took a turn for the weird.

Since waking up this morning, we’ve juggled the outdoor snow work with indoor fun, food, and the party that has been strange because most of our guests also needed to take work breaks at their own homes or elsewhere.  Six or eight inches of snow might not seem like very much to some snow and winter experts, but then they’d also know that it isn’t always the amount of snow that falls as much as how much it gets blown around that can be the problem in a winter storm.  That’s been the case today so far; so our regular rounds of shoveling and plowing needed to clear inches of snow every time.

That’s added up to a strange start to the year for us as we transitioned from hard, sweaty work out in the cold with the rest of our holiday entertainments, but we really should save the rest of the story for when we have more time to do this – and we don’t expect that to happen through the rest of today.  We haven’t even mentioned the Johnson clan Christmas that the Carringtons are hosting today, and while we haven’t been involved directly in that with them; we have gotten some updates during outdoor chats with our cousins and the adults and teens clearing snow all day at their house.

Okay, that’s going to be enough for this report.  We need to get changed and ready for dinner now – as well as run some laundry to keep up with all of the clothes we’re going through today; so we’ll do that and get back to the news for our holiday weekend tomorrow night.

Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
