Ethan and Ehlana:
Our Saturday night adventures were
definitely more-exciting than the dinner and evening out for the parents –
apparently including those parents that had kid-free night; since they didn’t
do anything at all without their children around to entertain them! ;^)
We’re still making the transition toward
the babysitting stage of our lives, but worked as much as we played last night
with just some supervision from the teens in the house. We led the pre and post-dinner work; took care
of keeping our younger siblings, cousins, and friends happy and entertained;
and wrapping up our night with a co-ed sofa sleepover wasn’t partial payment –
we just crashed into nap mode because we were wiped out by the time we got
everyone else into their beds or on their way home with parents that weren’t
leaving their kids with us for the night.
When it was time to get going again this
morning, Tai Chi was skipped because we didn’t have time for that; we jumped
right in to either help with cooking a major breakfast or helping to get all of
the kids ready for church; and we didn’t stop running until we got to
church. Having a nap during Sunday
school wasn’t an option, but we were grateful for the quieter moments of love
and spiritual renewal.
After church, we went home and eventually
had lunch with just Mom and Dad, and since Dad had work to do this afternoon
and it wasn’t all that warm out; we decided to go and play at the lab or
archives and take our best friends along for a couple of hours. Ehlana’s grinning at me right now because she
– and everyone else at the lab – thinks that reading books had nothing to do
with why Naomi chose to hang out with me on our own in the archives. Her choice also wasn’t why Aiden picked
hanging out in the lab with Ehlana. Yes,
there was some cuddle time and a kiss or three to go along with actually doing
some archives work, and we’re twelve or going on twelve; so don’t try to make
that into anything weird!
We also didn’t spend the entire afternoon
at the lab. We came home and had some
music fun after a snack break with Mom and Dad; Mom did a group Magi lesson
with us; and then we all ended up going out to the late buffet dinner at the
Inn with a small gang including Naomi’s and Aiden’s parents, brother, and
sister. Our evening has been quiet since
getting home again. We did a bit of work
around the house; hit the tub or Jacuzzi early – comparatively; and now we’re
winding down toward nap time and ready to catch up on the sleep we didn’t get
last night. Being tired has everything
to do with why we’re not going to offer an installment of our
friends-and-family update, but we will continue those stories sometime
soon. We don’t want to get into any
major pandemic-related commentary either, but can’t help but at least mention
the big ‘Freedom Convoy’ protest in Canada this weekend; and wonder just how
mad people are getting to join a major protest at the end of January when you
really need to be committed to brave the deep cold – and compare that to the
lack of similar protests in our own country.
Let’s leave that bit of news without offering more, since in the wider
world; that isn’t even a big news story – and we aren’t covering anything else
either. We really have had enough for
today, though; so we’re going to wrap it up and go get some sleep.
Until next time, this little blast from
your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana
Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
