Ehlana and Ethan:
The top news of the day for us was the warm weather. We loved feeling the temperature rise to seventy degrees this afternoon; and the bonus outdoor time at school was awesome too. That had everything to do with why we had a total of three classes outside while at school and then we biked and played outdoors with our friends for the rest of the afternoon once our teachers set us free from our last class of the day. Mom let us stay out and play for nearly an extra hour; we had a late dinner; and then got to work in the office after doing the post-dinner clean-up.
There isn’t really anything newsworthy to write about for our studies tonight, but there was something that we talked about that was an interesting reminder for us – a couple of references to Cassie’s studies and work at our age. We’ll start with the last part of the commentary-comparisons – Mom’s mention of Cassie’s later work nights while we wrapped up our work at ten o’clock. We don’t really think about it, but do remember that Cassie often stayed up later that we do now – and still does, but the biggest difference from then to now is how often we use time phasing to get more work done than Mom and Cassie did back then. Our training has been different too for obvious reasons that start with Mom and Cassie being in hiding from the Hathornes for the first nearly-ten years of Cassie’s life. If our situations had been more-alike; we’d likely be up later every night now too.
Time wasn’t the only issue we discussed, though; so let’s move along. Cassie was finished her unofficial advanced education earlier than we will be, but our studies are more-specific than hers; and she had her languages studies instead. Cassie’s archives reading was different than ours too, but that’s really because we get to have direct access to both the physical and digital archives; Ethan is already making progress with getting them to be more user-friendly; and his reading talent is a lot stronger than it is for the rest of us. I get to take advantage of that too thanks to the twin thing, and it goes both ways; since that pairs up nicely with my talent for reading comprehension when it comes to some of the most-complex lessons we have from the archives.
Finally, our ‘work’ for the family business is very different from what Cassie did at our age – and now. She was overseeing businesses with ongoing operations that required never-ending deadlines that needed to be met on a daily basis. We don’t have that restriction with the lab research or archives work. Sometimes we do feel as though we’re slacking off by comparison, but even during weeks when we don’t spend a lot of time at the lab or archives; we do still put in close to the equivalent of a full-time work week on our ‘real’ studies and family business work.
Finally, we should include the commentary about Cassie’s added responsibilities related to our first year or two in the world. We wouldn’t change anything about all of the amazing memories we have with our big sister from back then, but also don’t have a problem with not having a phase in our lives yet that has included late-night feedings and diaper changes for younger siblings. That could still happen for us with nieces and nephews, but we’ll have to wait and see whether that begins before we head off to college or not.
We’re not going to drag this out just to prove that we can stay up as late as Cassie does – or did; so let’s wrap it up. After we finished up in the office, we came upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time; skipped the music practice; and have been listening to music while having our twin bedtime chat. We’ll likely have another play afternoon with our friends tomorrow if the weather stays nice and warm; and we’d be okay with more outdoor time during the home-school part of our day too. We’ll let you know how that goes for us with the next report, but that’s all for now; and it is time to crash and get some sleep.
