Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - March 27, 2021

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 10th Birthday, Jayden!

We had a breakfast time vid-chat with our Proctor cousins, aunt, and uncle – our only involvement in Jayden’s special day.

While our cousin was celebrating with his family and friends, we had a damp morning around here; so we kept busy with cores and a couple of hours of lab work that we both did while working on our Magi-powered ‘vaccine’ project.  We wrapped up our work for the day in time for a late lunch; Naomi and Aiden met up with us then; and we spent the afternoon biking and playing together – along with some of our friends.  Thanks to all of the rain we’ve had recently, the best biking trails in the woods aren’t fun for most of us to ride on, but that didn’t keep some of the guys from doing that anyway; so those guys were fairly-dirty by the end of the afternoon.  Ethan and Aiden got razzed about not doing that too, but since they did enough of that kind of biking yesterday; our friends could only make up those jokes without any real facts to back them up.  We had fun with the biking and exploring we did do today, so while there isn’t much news to write about from those hours of outdoor fun.  Naomi and Aiden are with their own families tonight; so we were on our own with Mom and Dad for dinner and our evening too.  We enjoyed that meal; did the clean-up together; and watched a movie in the lounge.  Mom and Dad headed for their room after that; and we had a music practice while they didn’t just go straight off to sleep.  Our music time wasn’t an effort to cover for any noise coming from the second floor, since that isn’t an issue for parents that can ward their room for everything including sound, but that did keep us entertained for a while until we were ready to wrap up our day with the usual bedtime twin chat and computing.

We still need to cover the news from yesterday that we didn’t include in our early report; so let’s do that next.

Ethan doesn’t really want to include much about the guy time with Aiden and their buddies – mostly because he doesn’t want to mention the ‘fun’ that some of the guys had with their jokes and razzing about the girls and what might be happening at the birthday party.  I don’t have a problem with suggesting that those particular guys might also secretly wish that they could have been at Natalie’s party too; and needed to over-compensate by offering the insults instead.  As I’ve already mentioned, Ethan and Aiden did go biking wherever Miles and Joshua led; so they got very dirty – to the point where they not only needed to grab showers before dinner; they needed to wash their bikes, helmets, and clothes too.  Mom actually had them do that – along with their towels; since she refused to let them just toss the muddy messes in with the normal dirty laundry.  They had dinner with Mom and Dad – grilled burgers and sides; Silkie took them for a walk and some park play time; and then they played video games in the lounge until Naomi and I got home from the party.

On the girls’ side of the evening; the decent weather yesterday afternoon allowed us to have some outdoor fun before dinner; Natalie picked pizzeria pizza for her special dinner; and her Olde Bakery birthday cake was cherry chip – a nice change from the usual kid-picks that Naomi and I loved a lot while a few of our friends opted for back-up chocolate cupcakes instead.  A teen-rated chick flick movie was the after-dinner entertainment option – also Natalie’s choice; that wrapped up by nine; and then Naomi and I came home.  We love our favorite boys, but girls-only time is really great now and then too.  So was the co-ed cuddling, movie, and sofa sleepover that we wrapped up our day with; a near-perfect kind of day for at least two of us!

Other than adding that we had a good start to the day with Tai Chi and breakfast for six before Naomi and Aiden headed for home or the baker and we got started on our chores; that’s pretty much all we have for tonight; so, until next time...
