Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - December 17, 2020

Ethan:

I’m doing this update while Ehlana and Naomi are at the salon getting their hair done for the holidays.  The highlight of our day so far was the school Christmas pageant – and our parts in the show – including with Naomi and the Christmas Spirits.  That was different this year because it was in the morning instead of the afternoon; and our audience was split between the gym, cafeteria, and streaming live on the school and town intranet.  We went with ‘A Perfect Christmas’ from the Barbie movie for our band song pick; and the Grade Four class song was ‘Toys, Toys, Toys’ from the Cinderella Story Christmas movie.  There were lots of other parts of the show that we loved too, but I won’t go into the details here; since everyone did their best – or most of the students did.  That was true in not-so-good ways for a few exceptions – including Zack and Eli, but they got the laughs they hoped for; so their efforts worked for them; and added to the fun without being at the expense of any of their classmates or friends.

Part of the reason for the morning show time was that we had our school and class Christmas parties after that – and then we were set free early.  All of the students get tomorrow off; so we’re all very happy for the early start to our Christmas break.  The parties included pizzeria pizza; holiday treats, music, and games; so we played pretty much all day while at school.  That’s our plan for the rest of the day too – once the girls get here from the salon.  Aiden is currently checking in at the bakery and will pick up his overnight bag on his way here; so I’m doing this update and getting the lounge ready for a Christmas movie marathon.  Co-ed cuddling and sofa sleepover is certain; so Ehlana is okay with having me take care of this report so we can spend the rest of the day having fun with Mom and our friends.

That’s pretty much all for our day so far, but before I do the Christmas music picks; I should mention that we’ll pass the seventy-five million confirmed coronavirus cases milestone today – and the weekly totals are still on the rise – including in our country.  Vaccines are getting emergency approval for general population use, but we’re still concerned with the decisions to rush with no way to know about long-term risks.  Let’s not get into that today; and we’ll hope that those vaccines will prove to be effective and not dangerous to anyone.

Our band version of ‘A Perfect Christmas’ is different from the movie version, but only because we took turns with the melody and added in four-part harmony.  The second pick for today is a song that we’ve played around with and like a lot, but can’t really perform anywhere until we’re quite a bit older; since we’re supposed to be too-young for kissing under mistletoe – or anywhere else! ;^)

A couple of fun songs fit in with a fun day and our plans for the start of our Christmas holiday break, so enjoy them whenever you’re reading this in our future; and I’ll wrap this up and get my chores done before moving on to our Christmas-fun-with-best-friends plans!
