Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - December 16, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

This has been an awesome day, but let’s start with the rest of the news from last night – and no, we’re not talking about Mom’s five-star sleepover in the city! ;^)

Ending our day with the co-ed cuddling and movie worked out better for us than expected after only one round of pranks from Zack and Eli because they got into one of their video games; forgot about us; and fell asleep in their beds.  That allowed us to get away with a co-ed sofa sleepover too, and while we got teased about that this morning – and Liz took pictures while we were still asleep; we’re okay with the trade-off!

With Mom in the city for the day, Liz was happy to stay home and work with us this morning – though we can’t really call our online ‘lessons’ and assignments work at all.  It wasn’t a challenge to watch a Christmas show and then write a review of it; and the craft time was fun too.  We had the afternoon off from our home schooling to attend the seniors’ Christmas party in the fellowship hall at the church; and we’ll modestly report that Naomi and the Christmas Spirits were a highlight of the musical entertainment.  Going with a classic Christmas song might have worked for us too, but we opted for ‘Hold Them Close’ and had more than half of the seniors up and dancing to our Christmas ballad.  That party was a highlight of our day, but only one of them.  Pizzeria pizza dinner that Mom got back to town in time to share with us was really great; and so was the short visit we got to have with Jake, Stephanie, and Sierra between dinner and going home again.

Sierra is home now; and doing well – as is Stephanie.  Jake is taking time off from the Inn to take care of them – though he will also work some short shifts to help out with Christmas parties as needed.  Stephanie wanted Mom to check in on Sierra when she got home, but there wasn’t anything going on that Uncle Adam hadn’t already taken care of for them; so we kept that visit short because Sierra is in high demand from Jake’s and Stephanie’s families and friends.

When we got home, it was time for some work – starting with getting the minivan unloaded.  Mom had some work to do after that, so we spent an hour in the office working or studying; wrapped gifts for another hour; and then it was bath or Jacuzzi time.  We have a busy day coming up – our last school day of the year; so that’s all we have for tonight – though we have skipped over some of the fun moments of the day like the band practice to get ready for the Christmas pageant tomorrow and the video chat with Cassie and Michael.  The bad news from around the world can wait for another day – or ten; so we’ll add in our Christmas song picks for the day; and then go get some sleep.  We have two for tonight – the first for obvious reasons; and the second because it is one of our favorite songs so far from this year’s crop of new Christmas movies.
