Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - March 10, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 25th Birthday, Martin Rice!

Happy 9th Birthday, Marcus Malloy!

Ethan and I didn’t have any personal involvement in either of those birthday celebrations today, but gifts were sent; and Mom and Dad had vid-chats with Martin and Kimberly and the Malloys this morning while we were at Aiden’s house.  We didn’t take the trip to Crystal Springs for Marcus’ party this afternoon either, but then he was having a ‘friends’ party anyway; and Dad had a lot of work to get done today.

We need to write about Joshua’s party and our sleepover at Aiden’s house; so let’s back up and do that now.

Joshua has been a sometimes-terrible team with Miles since we were all toddlers, and while their reputations have been changing a bit thanks to Jennifer and Caroline, they still have their moments; and we can unfortunately report that they had one – or five – of them yesterday.  While those problems didn’t seriously mess up Joshua’s party, and the two boys haven’t exactly figured out that they messed up with their favorite girls; that mostly just proves that they are dense while Jennifer and Caroline put up with a lot more than most girls would in the same situations.

That feels like a weird way to start our party story, since Joshua actually did have fun and a happy day, but unlike other examples, we weren’t happy to see that happen when it was sometimes at the expense and embarrassment of other friends.  There will likely be some near-future consequences too, since Joshua and Miles annoyed more than their girlfriends yesterday, but we’ll hope for the best when it comes to that teen drama; and there is always the chance that the two boys will figure that out and make amends for their jokes and pranks that really weren’t funny at all.  Moving along, there were happy moments yesterday too, and while we helped when needed for both some of the party work and to mitigate the problems; Ethan and I also enjoyed the dinner; Naomi and the Holiday Harmonies shared an unplugged set with our friends that led to a mini dance; and the movie that we wrapped up the party with was only good because it was a good excuse for co-ed cuddling while also being a fairly-bad horror movie that none of the girls in the house would have chosen to watch.

That had a lot to do with why most of us were ready to escape and head to our homes or elsewhere, but we were among the last to leave while helping Joshua’s parents with a last clean-up – though Miles, Jennifer, and Caroline stayed after we left and were not planning on a co-ed sleepover even though the girls did eventually stay for the night in one of the guest rooms.  Ethan, Naomi, and I went home with Aiden; we watched music videos and wound down with co-ed cuddle time and a long party recap chat that kept us up a bit too-late; and then we wrapped up our day with a co-ed sofa nap.

It was chilly this morning, but we still met up with Cassie and Michael for Tai Chi by the river.  Breakfast was with Aiden’s family; we had a good morning at church and Sunday school; and then we had a quiet lunch with Mom and Dad before opting for a work-play afternoon at the lab or archives while Dad needed to work in the office.  The high today climbed above sixty, and some of our friends were biking and hanging out at the park, but we are going to have nicer weather coming up over the next few days; so working today worked for us; and we’ll go with the outdoor fun during the warmest days.

While it is always tempting to go to the Inn for the buffet dinners on Sunday, we resisted the urge tonight and got home in time to help Mom with making an easy-meal that we enjoyed with Dad in the sunroom and while he took a break from his own work.  Ethan and I took care of the clean-up; Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and we did some charity work before bath or Jacuzzi time was ordered and we headed upstairs.  It still isn’t that late because we did some of that work in a time phase, but we have had a couple of late nights; and are ready to catch up on our sleep.  That’s also pretty much all of our news for today too, so moving on to nap time is an option; and we’re going to choose doing that starting right now!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
